Glass blowers and lamp workers, I have a couple questions

I want to blow borosilicate glass pieces, maybe soda glass ones too. I know that there is a really big set up cost but I'm prepared to pay for it, I really wanna do this. I'm wondering which torch I can use for larger diameter glass tubes, according to a local site there's a set I can pay for which costs about 300 dollars but is good for working only 2 cm diameter (wtf)
So I'm wondering, is there any other torches I can use for borosilicate and soft glass blowing? The graphite molds for 14 mm tubes would be cool too so that they would be comparable with normal bowls and stuff.
Thanks

Get a hot head torch to start $50 Use a crockpot full of vermiculite instead of a kiln for now Start small get the hang of bead making and soft glass before you try and move up

hmm. thats what everyone says. I guess I can try and make soft glass bongs and shit. I can make soft glass bongs with glass on glass adapters right? I really hope they don't crack when heated up.
Also, can I use a small torch for a little bigger projects? like not a super torch for a 6 inch bong but like a small torch for something 60 mm across?

Take a class or two before you spend loads of money
You'll get great info that way and hands on experience

I just looked up a glass blowing class in Ottawa. I checked the website a little bit and here's what I found.
Just keep on reading until you see it

to be honest, i've tried and there are no teachers near me. i will just have to study myself (i taught myself how to play guitar in the days there were no youtube, now I know scales and how to improvise with some music theory. i guess i'll do the glass first, and if i get frustrated i will find the workshops.

Also,
whats the difference between soft glass and hard glass (aside from coeffecient of expansion), I mean like the differences in the bong and the slides and stuff. why are they so different? to prevent the glass from breaking if heated too hot? what are the differences?
