What were these again? Two different requests
    #21031782 - 12/27/14 12:50 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

These look familiar and figured they can be ID'd upon sight. I think some Agaricus but haven't performed any IDs yet:

And these. Might be more advanced. The thing with these is that they are as hard as a rock. Anyone know?:

1) Probably Chlorophyllum brunneum, check for a ledge on the base at the base of the stem.
2) Probably a Lactarius, perhaps one of the ones that grows near birch.  While Lactarius turpis is not supposed to grow in the USA, I think that is what you have.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactarius_turpis

I'm used to call this Lactarius necator - commonly called "Black Lactarius" as translated from Norwegian.

But it's not really black is it. Yet I don't think it is ugly either, as the turpis epithet indicates. Fascinating, not ugly.

Interesting... Cool, thanks.

So those should be known for being rock hard then? Can't remember if they had milk either... Will keep an eye out.

The season seems pretty much over now though, will have to wait a few months
