BRF cake stalled w/ FAT shroom
    #21022339 - 12/24/14 06:00 PM (9 years, 4 months ago)

So a couple of my brf cakes that are awaiting birth have stalled behind the rest and will not fully colonize.
They are between 60-80% colonized but are FULLY consolidated with a few decent sized fruits and I want to birth them but I'm not sure the best way to remove the excess un-colonized portion. Should I just rinse it off and dunk as usual or cut it off with a sterile knife?

Thanks for any adice! :peace:

just rinse it off. you can rub the uncolonized portion off with your fingers under the water faucet

This is correct. Just use your fingers; the mycelium is strong and won't mind a hard rub to get the uncolonized stuff off.

explain what you mean by "uncolnized"

because then you said they were "consolidated"

consolidation happens (if it in fact does) after full colonization.

are you saying the top part of your pf cake isn't colonized?

where the dry verm is?

yea i kinda felt i worded that wrong:facepalm3:

what i mean is my jars ARE fully consolidated, but when colonizing the mycelium didnt wrap completely around the bottom portion of the jar. it just kinda halted one day like there was a fence blocking the bottom!
but the top portion of the cakes are thick and consolidated nicely with several healthy pins/fruits.

thanks for this input!

i was always worried if i was rinsing my cakes too hard. like rubbing the verm off and such might be too rough on em or damage them.

good word guys :peace:
