Like how often should I mist em, they suck it up pretty quick.

Any reason why this would happen? The environment seems just about perfect, moisture looks good, evap looks like it should, idk....

Maybe genetics? They're not aborting or anything cuz they are still growing and look healthy.

I don't know man, could be genetics. Could be the moisture content of the sub too.

Man the bulk was perfect when I spawned it, I mean perfect. I've been giving them a light mist in the afternoon because there are so many of them. I hope they get a decent size before they need to be harvested.

Probably because your keeping them misted...
I find when my mushrooms are wet they shed the veil early sometimes, with a pinset like that though, you have no choice but to mist them or else it will be abort city.
Don't sweat it, that tub looks awesome! Pick them just before the caps start inverting to drop spores.

I've had fruits before that have opened really early like that and kept on growing into normal size mushrooms.

TheChief said: Casing layer?
A traditional casing layer should be about 1/2 inch thick, low nutrition and a pH of above 7. If you use material with high nutrition you run the risk of it just being completely colonized and becoming useless. Also, if you fail to get the pH above 7 and keep it there throughout the grow, the casing could become contaminated. They usually consist of about 40% verm and 50% peat moss; additives such as gypsum and calcium hydroxide are used to buff the pH above 7 and prevent swings in the pH throughout the grow.
I have read that a pH of 4 - 6 is recommended for spawn material as the myceiluim prefers a my acidic environment. That the metabolites will actually change the pH of it's environment to better suit the mushrooms needs. I am gussing by your statement that contams also favor the more acidic enviroments and that why we want to keep a casing above a pH of 7?
---- Anyone who decides to flame me will be reported to Cronicr. I am just trying to understand and have no experience with playing with the pH of any grows.

The cube mycelium don't like alkaline either much but they tolerate it and use it as a pinning base just fine. The whole point is for it not to colonize the casing, a casing is used for moisture retention and micro climate; they don't retain moisture or create climate well when they are colonized. The high pH and low nutes in a casing will make it become minimally colonized and contam resistant. Cubes substrate on the other hand should always be on the acidic side.

cool. Do you notice that the PH of the casing tends to change over time. You said it needs to be maintained above pH 7 so I can only assume yes without any experience.
Also, I'm a fan of your Tribal Dunk. I have it it my notes for use.

pH levels DO swing over time... The key is to add things like gypsum or crushed oyster shells which act as a buffer and keep the pH swings from happening.
We use lime (calcium hydroxide) for the initial pH boost up to 7 or 8.
