Anyone want to join me? Starting now, savage 2 hour workout, high intensity, martial arts and strength training with some yoga. I do my workouts while watching movies or shows, currently finishing Band of Brothers then might start The Pacific.
Ready?
GO!

What type of beast?
I would either be a basilisk or a cockatrice. Or some big ass spider mother with 1000 young.

I like to watch comedy and shit while working out, 'dark' or 'scary' shit just makes me want to quit working out and inhibits that great dopamine release.
Out of the Wild (Alaska) was purty awesome to watch on the stairclimber though.
Woke up at 3AM and too exhausted to do any serious lifting right now.

What motivates you to work out?
Are there any rituals or certain things you do? Certain things you tell yourself?

For me, It's the fact that I am always excited to look in the mirror when I'm working out, because I mentally know that my body is moving in a positive direction. Whereas when I'm stagnant it is at best declining slowly. My attitude improves, I see other people making positive changes at the gym, other winners in the game of self improvement. It's a lifestyle, staying active. You don't have to be the guy bench pressing 300 lbs, so long as you don't remain stagnant you're getting work done.
Humans aren't built to sit around and stare at screens/walls/shit. Quite frankly going more than 3 days without doing some sort of intense cardio makes me feel gross. Don't know how y'all do it for months.

I suppose because our bodies do get used to unhealthy lifestyles and bad habits.
That's a good way to motivate yourself, I'll have to find a way that works for me as well. Do you find it easier to judge progression by observation or by actively recording your changes?

Ready?
GO!
I just finished my leg day.
squats romanian deadlifts lunges calves
in my shower afterward the shampoo bottle slipped out of my hand, i bent over to get it and my legs nearly gave out. sign of a good legday. the sign of a good upper-body day is when i don't have the strength to shampoo my hair.
i got back on the workout-wagon on the 14th. haven't dropped teh ball yet. next challenge: staying consistent over the holidays.

I observe. I lift more for the high and feelsgoodmans than to put on mass. Also the increased vascular look is what I'm all about.
Eating well is a critical part of it all.

If you always think about movement and working out, then take all that thought and apply it to physical action.
^It took me a while to follow that advice of my own, but once I started to just do, working out became very enjoyable. No longer was I trying to plan out my physical development, I was chasing one of the best highs around. Endorphins man

I don't mind being thin because I'm actually the build of a mesomorph who eats well. So I've got the broad shoulders, well proportioned lower body etc, but very little excess fat.
Only thing going against me is I have no ass, and could stand to gain about 2 pounds of muscle overall

Yeah, I'm going to start changing my diet and exercise soon, I would love to be able to lower my body fat percentage by a significant factor, hopefully regular cardio will burn the fat off.
I consider myself an endomorph but with a slower fat gaining ability, essentially. I would enjoy being ripped, that would be great. For personal confidence and for general health.
Also, how did you find the best routine for working out and dieting? Trial and Error? I get confused by the information overload when you're trying to research these things, so need as many opinions and insights into it.

In our day, when men are obsessing about finding themselves, their holy grail of a woman, and their “passion,” the Greatest Generation’s uncomplicated approach to life is refreshing. They didn’t go on a diet, they simply ate whole food; they didn’t exercise, they worked around the house; they didn’t obsess about their relationships, they just found a gal they loved and married her. They always looked sharp, but never fussed with fashion trends. They didn’t mull over which appliance better suited their personality and image, they just bought the machine that worked the best. They didn’t think about how to get things done, they just got em’ done. When Joe Foss, a celebrated and daring WWII pilot and then governor of South Dakota was asked if he missed his younger days, he said, “Oh no. I’m not a guy who missed anything from anywhere. I’ve always been a guy who just gets up and goes.” Instead of spending you time navel gazing your life away, just get up and go!

And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.
