Hey squish face, I don't see any sign of bruising on your cakes. Why do you think your cakes are bruised, rough handling? Bruising is a blue discoloration.
I'm a noob but from the research I've done it looks like a lack of FAE, don't take my word for it tho. The search function is your friend you should always use the search function especially for something as simple or common as bruising. The search bar is at the top right hand side of the forum.

Ha squish face
Is that the shroomery version of scarface…
Hey spoon head - how you doing :P
Agreed there is no blue and there has been no rough handling and there has been misting twice daily. I've spent the evening with the search function to turn up nothing which seems to be related.
Whats FAE?

.....search tool. FAE is fresh air exchange. You're using a SGFC, right? It could be as simple as bad FC placement in the room it is in. Is your FC 6"-12" away from any wall? Is your FC 6"-12" off the ground? Are your holes 6mm (1/4 inch)? Do you have 4 to 6 inches of perlite? Upload a picture of your setup it would help. You may have a bacterial infection, again I'm a noob.

Hey peeps
Hope we all had a fab christmas.
Ok this is interesting, I hadn't considered the FC needing to be a distance from the wall - will move away right away, I've been fanning every day and Christmas eve pored another litre of water in to the perlite. I have been misting everyday but I'm not sure there was enough latent moisture in the perlite to give a decent ambient humidity. And the temperature has been a little low, around 65.5F I think the reason I have the strange growth is because I don't think the humidity was high enough for the first week, we are now coming to the end of week 2. Would that cause the strange white puffy growth around the bottom of the cakes? I'm uploading below some recent pics from this morning, would be grateful for thoughts.
