Pink oyster grain jars now what ?
    #21006407 - 12/21/14 06:11 AM (9 years, 4 months ago)

So i have 10 pink oyster grain jars (quarts) .I dont have a GH .. any idea on how fruiting them ?
i thought about a bucket tek .But what kind of RH do i need in a room to fruit a bucket? (i have a room for monotubs where humidity is 50-70 % Hot mist humidifier) is it enough ?
Or Should i go with with bags in sgfc ?

wow!  thats a lot of spawn!  if u mean "bucket tek" as in using a 5 gallon with holes punched in it instead of making a straw log with holes, that could work.  my very first oyster grow i just let the straw log sit out in my room near a humidifier, and i misted it 2-3 times a day.  humidity was not that high, so they would crack as they matured.  i've seen people drape plastic over them loosely to maintain humidity, but generally, the stems will begin to elongate because the plastic will reduce the amount of air they get.

if u have extra coir, they will grow on that too

a 4 tier GH is cheap though man, like $30 new on amazon.  you could do a lot of logs/buckets with that much spawn.  1 qt would inoculate a 5 gallon bucket of straw easy, and thats even a pretty high ratio, but will ensure success as long as its clean.
good luck!

Straw works great for me. Really almost any kind of non-compostable container works well for packing straw into. I suppose even compostable containers would work too haha.

I once just cased and fruited some oysters but the casing layer isnt really neccessary. Fruited in a shotgun FC so air exchange wasnt optimal.

70% RH should work out alright.

That's about the humidity I had for this crate of straw and these flower pouches....

Totally!

Those are pretty nifty bags to use. I was going to start making "kits" for people to take home and grow.
