First attempt at grow,help needed.

Hi all,I have growing schrooms once before using a grow kit with some success. This time I have tried to take it one step further.I sterilised my brown rice flour and vermiculite mixture and inoculated the 2 jars with a spore syringe (Amazon type,I think) and was pleased when they became all white.I'm new to this so forgive me if I dont use the correct treminology That took about 2 weeks. They were kept in the dark in my hot press.
I put one in the clear plastic box with moist perlite. The temp varies between 18-29 degrees C and the RH 90-95%.It's been about 1 week but so far nothing has happened,no sign of any pin heads. The box is kept in the hot press,I take it out, remove the lid and fan the box twice a day.
Have I done something wrong? Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.

I have no idea what a hot press is or what you are using it for. Pictures would help. I googled it, but from what I gathered, you are growing in an industrial facility?
Post pics of your clear plastic box. Is it made into an actual SGFC to spec? Is there any light on it? One week is still normal not to see pins, btw.

Did you dunk and roll your cakes? Are you misting them as well as fanning?

your clear plastic box needs hundreds of holes for air exchange and so air can flow through the perlite to create more humidity. see the first link in my signature

Thanks for the quick replies.A hotpress is a drying cupboard where the immersion heater (water heater) and laundry cupboard are,UK name.
I thought by adding holes it would have decreased the humidity by allowing air to escape, stop laughing,it's my first time : ).The box doesnt seem to be airtight so I thought that would allow air flow,so I need to add wee holes?
I tried to add photos but I couldnt manage to attach them to my post but they are on this site some where! Can I attach some now?
Didnt dunk and roll,I followed a youtube video,How to grow magic mushrooms, which didnt mention dunk and roll,do you think I now should,if so how do you do it.I'm not misting because the perlite was staturated with water.
Thanks again, hope this reply is not too rambling

Here is a good thread to help you understand the Shotgun Fruiting Chamber. You should build it exactly like that.
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20195542
Also, did you let your cakes consolidate for at least 1 week once they appeared to be 100% colonized?

Hi,no I didnt let them consolidate ( do you mean leaving them in the jar for a week before taking them out?) I made 2 jars. The first is in the box I made ,the second jar is fully colinized, still in the jar, should I leave it in the jar for a further week.
Will have a look at that thread you posted.Thanks.

Yes once it appears to be fully colonized leave it in the jar for another week. So, yeah leave that other cake in the jar for another week.

mist and fan your Fruiting chamber as often as you can try to fan for at least 20 seconds. And drill a LOT of holes all around the box and add more perlite.
The cakes will take longer to pin beacuse they need to consolidate.
Go watch RR's videos on the pf tek on youtube and follow the instructions. You should harvest some good fruits soon

Guys really appreciate the fast replies.I've been looking thru different posts in the forum and realise I should have done more research.
Is there a good post that explains step by step this process, not sure bout the proper name for it.
Should I dunk and roll the cake that's in the fruiting box ,increase the depth of the moist perlite and then also mist every so often.
Cheers for the feedback.

Hi,had a look at RR's videos on you tube, this is what I plan to do -remove cake from fruiting chamber and submerge in water for 24 hrs -drill lots of holes all over the chamber and increase the moist perlite to 5" -after 24 hrs wash, then dunk and roll the cake in vermiculite, put it back in the chamber -mist the cake several times over a few hours -leave the second cake in the jar for another week then repeat the above
How does that sound? Should I put the chamber back in the hotpress ( where the water heater is),it had a compact cfl bulb which I leave on for a couple of hours a day.I have read that room temperature is sufficient for the fruiting chamber,I'm in the UK and indoor temps would be 12-18 degrees C.
Thanks again for all the helpful replies.

Then mist as needed, making sure to fan for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute after misting. (1-3 mistings a day should be fine. Let your cake tell you when to mist, not a clock. There's a magical moment where your cake looks dry but is still a little wet to the touch. That's when you want to be misting) -leave the second cake in the jar for another week then repeat the above
Fixed.

They will pin slowly but expect fatter shrooms. Your temps are fine but 12 C is a little cold. If you have a heater I'd try to get my room to stabilize around 18c if not closer to 20.

CFL in the 6500k (kelvins) range. It should say "daylight" on the bulb. watts/lumens tend not to matter as long as you get the spectrum (kelvins) right for growing. LEDs might be an alternative but i have no experience with them. This day any age we're getting rid of incandescent so watts dont matter any more. its all about lumens(brightness).
