i saved this top from a small pedro i used as stock for a willy button. its about 25mm.
i dropped it down inside a very small plastic pot and as you can see it has started rooting at 4 ribs sfter i think maybe 2 mos
i remember people asking about how small cuttings can be to root, but this one looks nicer than the last baby one i remember posting

I have success to root even smaller trich. One seedling of t. t. bridgesii got root rot, 2cm tall, only fem mm diameter. Cut it root becuse of rot and it grew new root(almost as fat as plant)
Small cuttings just grow so fucking slow, also too hot temperatures should be avoid to cutting don't die to dehydration!

Good question.. I will have to have a hunt for it I'm not keen on myrtle for grafting stock lately, it sulks easy when we turn cold and damp here, less tolerant than the scions are.

We did start dip below freezing 1-2 weeks back, finally felt like winter was here. The greenhouse got mostly emptied, with just trichs and a few others left out there. Then this last week has been quite mild, staying above 50f overnight.
That small piece was sliced off the top so I could graft, and just left on a gritty mix something else was growing in (can't remember what). A few weeks later, roots. This was done under CFL.

Yeah it's just been really cold here as of late, and our lows at night have been in the 20's,and today the high is only 40f That's crazy how that rooted like that and that is was unintentional!

Are you getting the orange rot or something else? I've stopped using them for that reason. I prefer T, pachanoi nowadays.

I gave my uncle a grafted peyoot with a tiny pedro about a fifth that size that was a pup and it rooted. It Was a very tiny pup. Wish I could have snapped a shot of it.

Yes orange rot does like to break out, and I just don't get as high a success rate with it for whatever reason. I prefer short echinopsis stocks now for their increased hardiness and also they keep scions a nice compact shape like myrtle can.
