Hello lovelies.
Has anyone seen the new Hobbit film yet? I've seen the previous ones and they were decent but not as good as LOTR. I found that the extra characters that Peter Jackson included in desolation were good for what they are worth but it wasn't nessecary to have them. Also I feel it isn't nessecary to have 3 separate movies, three separate movies on a book that was much smaller than ONE normal LOTR novel (which indeed had only ONE movie per book) seems like a money grab.
In any case, is it worth watching it or not, does it live up to its claim? I don't really go to the cinema because I usually wait till it comes out on DVD so I can ermm...click the right buttons....and watch it.
Opinions? I know it's new.

Last one kinda sucked, this one should be good. I've heard all the Dol-Guldur necromancer stuff is rad. My wife and I are both big Tolkein nerds.

Yeah on the 17th in the US. But the premier was here, on the 1st.
I could've booked IMAX tickets and shit in advance but I didn't even know it was out till yesterday.

I liked the 2nd hobbit movie, as much as I liked the two towers and the first one.
I just can't sit there next to someone for three hours and then have that car ride home lol I just want to watch the movie and that's it.

I thought the hobbit movies were cartoons for babies. I didn't really like LOTR but the hobbit is to LOTR as the star wars prequels are to original star wars. I haven't seen the new one yet.

The Battle of Five Armies is a good watch for sure, but it doesn't really fit the book, which irks me. And it's just simple plot and detail changes that are avoidable. Still, it's worth getting high and going to see in imax 3D haha

Do you all prefer to go to movies high or sober? I almost feel like I prefer to be sober because I can pick up on subtle things easier and I'm typically more focused. I get sleepy when sitting in a dark room high as well so that doesn't help. To be specific I'm talking about going to the theaters high on marijuana. I wouldn't mind going on an opiate just because I'd be chillin. Would still have the same problem but yeah.

I saw the second Hobbit movie on acid and the entire time I just spaced out and literally comprehended like 0% of it. I would just turn to my friend every 30 minutes or so and be like "Dude wtf is happening I have no clue."
Then on the ride home we blasted music on full volume while screaming animal noises at the top of our lungs and wildly flailing our bodies around.

It was one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in at least two years. It was also an abomination of a good novel and had a terrible script and uber stupid action sequences.
It was a rare case where I knew a movie was obscenely stupid, but couldn't help loving it. The sheer steaming pile of stupid was in fact so tremendously momentous that I laughed most of the way through.
So I would say: see it. It sucks as an adaptation and as a movie, but as simple mindless entertainment, it was actually successful

that's pretty much how I imagine it going if I took acid and went to see that. Only movie I've seen on acid in the theaters is Iron Man 3 in 3d and I went by myself during the day because I was bored lol it was a bizarre experience to say the least.

Thanks for the input guys! I will defiantly watch it (while stoned of course) I don't have high expectations of it but I do love my fantasy genre so will enjoy it. Even if it isn't all that, I could still enjoy the uncanny-valley-esque CGI.
Personally I found the first hobbit movie to be really slow, that's my opinion of it anyway. I usually am patient with movies but when it is 3 hours long, you're an hour in and they're still chit-chatting away about some shit that wasn't in the original book then you are a bit . I did really enjoy it in the end regardless, I loved how they done the goblins and the trolls. The Hobbit won't ever really live up to LOTR simply because LOTR had a depth that these newer movies lack, it had a dark twisted tone which the Hobbit lacks because it is all bubbly.
One thing I want to ask, have my standards for movies raised or are there just MORE shitty movies being released every year?

A good spliff always helps to enjoy my movies much more. I find I am able to discern between good and bad acting and able to find the artistic motive (if there is one) of the director.
