Tasteless Peruvian Torch?
    #20997631 - 12/19/14 04:36 AM (9 years, 4 months ago)

Hi there, everyone!

I'm a total beginner as far as mescaline and cacti go, but I recently ordered and received 2 Peruvian Torch from elephantos, then de-spiked and froze them, to be dried later.

I have read in many online discussions that it's supposed to taste horrible, so before freezing, I cut a good slice, picked the peel off, and ate the slice raw, chewing it well.

To my surprise, it tasted pretty much nothing at all.

I'm known to be very picky and peculiar as far as taste and texture goes in food, but this was fairly neutral, went down easy and had no after-taste to speak of.

Maybe some of you guys have some experience with this?
The cacti look right as far as I can tell from Pictures, and elephantos swear they sent me the real deal.

Is it supposed to taste like crap or not?

Frozen to be dried later? Sounds like problems

I thought that the alkaloids gave it the bitter horrible taste maybe yours is amazingly weak(lets hope not)my cacti I am brewing got bitter taste.
I only ever tasted san pedro

I froze my cacti then wanted to dry it and I ended up just making te
apperantly drying slices is the way to go.

Yeah Amorphouspattern, that's what I'm afraid of, that elephantos has sent me 2 absolutely non-potent cactus cuttings.
If bitterness equals mescaline, then this isn't gonna work at all.
I guess I'd better buy something from someone else to make sure I don't just end up with a full stomach when it's time to go!

bitterness definitely has something to do with the alkaloid potency
Im reducing my tea now and it is very bitter.

Have you tasted san pedro before?

Im just shocked you chewed on a taste and it was not bitter at all
because my(most) san pedro in my experience will taste bitter even if you touch the cut exposed part and put finger and taste it.

Bitterness has nothing to do with cactus potency. I've had a fairly tasteless Pedro and tripped nicely, whereas I've had a disgustingly bitter Pedro where I didn't trip AT ALL.

Is that right, Jimmy Sage?  Well, that's promising news! :-)

I dunno...every tea, extract, and serving of cactus flesh that I have consumed was bitter as all hell, and in my experience the bitter the better.

No, I'm new to mescalin and cactus, so these Peruvian Torch cuttings will be my first.

A lot of folks seem to have that experience. I may have to get some backup, maybe some dried chips..

i would agree, bitter equals potent.

When ive made teas that were "watery" tasting, they were as potent as the stronger, super bitter teas from San Pedro.

But freezing slices of san pedro then eating it like a frozen cucumber sounds promising. I know beer has less taste when chileld than warm, maybe thats true for cacti too.

Well, my buddy and I decided to get some peruvian powder and chips as well, just in case these fresh cuttings are low- or non-potent, to be on the safe side!
