Sadly true, but our reps have been ignoring the constitution for years.
-------------------- You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. I think Bush is being fake about his religion. The things he?s done do not reflect the teachings of Jesus.
Christianity is the right bait for American fish. Being a "Christian" means you?re automatically a good person.

one quote I read that I really liked...I can't remember the exact line.
it was something like:
george bush is a right wing moderate posing as a christian for votes when in fact it turns out that george bush is a right wing zealot, posing as a right wing moderate posing as a christian.
I think it was Paul Krugman...
What would jesus do?

I think Bush had Jesus arrested under the Patriot Act. After all, so many people find him in prison.

The government of this nation was formed by White, Christian males. As I am not a Christian, I don't want you to think I'm just sticking with the boys on this one. However, this IS a Christian-made nation, if you don't like it, leave. Christian values are what built this country, changing them is what leads to the abherrant behavoir that is now ruled more and more acceptable.

Be sick with greif because we all stand in judgement of one another and continue to miss the boat. Be we christian, buddhist, muslim, etc
You think being a Christian is some convienient path in America? That the consensus in society is that being a Christian is "good"?
You have obviously never lived in a state like California, for example. It is not "cool" to be a Christian in very many places anymore. Have you even scoped the S&P forum on this site. Goodness gracious, to be a Christian in that den.
All you folks think you are so enlightened. We are all gods.. 3l33t!
Christians are getting persecuted and will continue to be, increasingly. While people sit around and judge "90%" of Christians, perhaps one should be concerned with their own shit and not the shit they think others suffer from.
This bb is getting way too pompous for my tastes as of late.

One of the fundamental principles this country was built on was religious freedom. So although many of the founding fathers were Christian, that does not make this a Christian nation.

This is true, but it is not politically correct to talk about it. Christians are one of the favorite 'whipping boys' of the secular left, 'diversity' is the code word used to keep your Christian faith subordinate to the pc dogma. Good luck in the future.
-------------------- To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.' Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence. Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains. Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.
