Eno's Electric Loop. A self sterilizing inoculation loop from e-cig parts! * 3
    #20989683 - 12/17/14 02:23 PM (9 years, 5 months ago)

Okay, first of all I want to give a big shout out to Munchauzen for giving me this idea. In this thread I'll show you how to build an electric inoculation loop from parts. This loop will also double as a kickass dab pen with the right attachment. So let's get started!

MATERIALS

1 roll of heavy gauge kanthal wire (I used 24 gauge here).
1 rebuildable dripping atomizer. This is the exact one I use.
1 mechanical mod. I like the Kamry k101
1 18650 battery. I like Efest IMR batteries.
1 [url=http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KBEJ6SC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1418850261&sr=8-
1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=51qULGTiNpL&ref=plSrch]charger. [/url]
Needle nose pliers or a leatherman.
1 eyeglass screwdriver.
1 ohm meter. Optional but highly recommended. A multimeter will work too, but the 510 threaded ohm tester is super handy.

Okay! Let's build this thing!

Start with about 8 inches of wire.

Wind a cool around the screwdriver. Make sure to start the wind in the middle of the wire so you have plenty of lead. I did 3 wraps.

Straighten out the coil a little bit with the pliers.

Screw the base of the atomizer onto the ohm tester. This is the main reason it's so handy.

Wrap the wire around the post and tighten the screws. You'll see in the next pic why this turned out to be too long.

Bend the leads where they attach to the terminals at a 90 degree angle. I tested the resistance here and it was almost 3 ohms. If the resistance is too high your loop won't get hot enough.

I trimmed the leads to half their length and re installed it. 1.29 ohms is much better.

Fire in the hole!

Now, once you have your loop built you can buy a wax attachment like the seego vhit series for another 10-15 bucks. This may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy vaping and tinkering like I do it's a lot of fun. Now I just wish I had something to inoculate.

With the 24 gauge kanthal it lasts a very long time. I use the same wire for nicotine and a coil lasts me about a month. It could go longer but they start to taste shitty after a while so I rebuild before the old coil is completely dead.

Noiceeee very smart I'm mad I didn't think of this first it seems so obvious!
I've thought of trying to rig it to fog but haven't gotten around to putting it into play
Nice write up
Should be getting a r64 print soon so I'll use this then

I can't wait to test it out. I do like the idea of being able to sterilize the loop with one hand inside the SAB.

if you want to do this with a g-pen, you will need a soldering iron to reconnect the element to the connection plate after you disassemble it.

I do not have one to complete my build :frown:

That would be cool too

I think the resistance in a scalpel blade would be too high. I am thinking of building something a little more intricate though, if I feel like busting out the soldering iron. I don't think that this battery could get a scalpel blade got enough to sterilize it, but I may try.

You would need super gloves to be able to hold a red hot scapel

That's kind of what I was afraid of. I have no idea how the atomizers for a gpen work, but I know they're not designed to be rebuildable.

Thanks

I don't know how many people will actually do this, since it's a little costly to build. That's why I added the incentive of building an unbeatable dab pen with the same stuff :awesome:

65 bucks gets you everything to build an electric inoculation loop, a nice e-cig, and a top notch dab pen in one!
