Now it just sucks that's there is no carrabean island I can go without it being flooded by Americans....
I'm going to Cuba in March, hopefully the agreement won't be in effect until then

Won't happen. Takes an act of Congress and the Republicans will never allow it to happen as long as the Castros are running the show.

John F. Kennedy bought 1200 cuban cigars before enacting the embargo.

It is somewhat inconvenient having to go to Cuba through Haiti or the DR, but at least I'm not Canadian.

Do Americans really dominate tourism everywhere? I figured that there would be more Chinese or Indians, as each of those countries have about 4 times the population of America.

The authorization is not for basic tourism....it enables relatives to visit and business ventures or diplomatic visits. We are also re-opening our embassy there.
About time, as far as I can tell...I wish I could visit.

For business ventures, eh? I'm sure I can find a reason to go there, using that loophole. :P

I've had a chance my whole life to visit Cuba having both a Brazilian and American passport. As well as it being only about an hour flight from where I live.
Now that I want to go visit after watching the Anthony Bourdain episode about vacationing there, it's going to be full of American tourists. Not cool at all.
At least we're going to get a huge influx of amazingly delicious Cuban rums in North America. That's one good thing about this trade embargo being lifted. Oh and driving down the price of Cuban cigars as well.
Edit:
Oh
It won't lift travel restrictions to Americans. Good. A minor inconvenience to fly 30 minutes to Nassau in order to fly to Havana from there.

I hear the prostitution tourism to Cuba is pretty rampant.
May hookers be your loophole.

The higher the GDP the higher the leisure, so yes United States dominates a lot of tourism based on our wealth..

I'm gonna laugh when Cuba starts making money hand over fist from their obscenely well developed biotechnology sector when they start undercutting US/Euro-based pharmaceutical companies significantly with their far less expensive vaccines and pharmaceuticals.

I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."
