Swabs from prints and packaging?

Hey all,
So I noticed there are a few people who are happy with just swabs - at first I wasn't too sure what that was so did some searching and found out that it is basically an earbud (Q Tip / swab) with some spores on it.
Generally it is used to obtain spores from mushrooms which do not drop spores easily, such as albinos or mutants. Obviously you would want to make sure that the swab is sterilized as well, seems you can purchase steralized ones which have their own covers.
Like so:
Which is pretty nifty but I am sure a bit more expensive and possibly tricky to find here in South Africa. You can get sterilized swabs which come in packages without anything to place them back into and then you can just get normal ones and put them in a jar in a PC and sterilize them yourself I'd imagine?
Now what would be appropriate packaging to place the swab into after you have collected some spores on it? Lets say you get some sterile swabs like this:

After collecting spores what do you do with it, how do you store it, what do you place it in? Especially if you want to send it off to someone as a trade or whatever. Perhaps just put it in a ziplock baggy then into the envelope? Or maybe wrap the entire swab in foil then in a ziplock baggy?
Then another thing, would you be able to make a swab from a print on foil? I am sure for most of us a swab would be more than sufficient as opposed to an entire print? If you only just got the print as well and others are looking for it as well and they would to not have to wait for you to grow it out and harvest - perhaps you could make a swab for them from the print and then send them the swab and you can at the same time scrape some spores off the print into some agar for yourself type thing?
Would that work and be alright?
Thanks, Psy

Those sterile-packed swabs look ideal for the (right) job, but would people really see swabs as a storage medium? It's cotton so the possibility of swiping up some moisture and mould spores from a non-sterile fruit leads on to the consequent possibility of mould germination and sporulation, surely (?)
Myself I wouldn't do anything with a swab but apply it immediately to agar. For long term storage of spores I would only consider dry prints or nutrient-free suspension in water.
I'm happy to be proved wrong by others' experience though.

For sure, I agree. I do not think swabs are ideal when it comes to storing spores long term. That isn't what I am looking to do though.
Sorry, perhaps I didn't make it clear in my first post.
I am not looking at making swabs to store spores on - mainly toying with the idea of making swabs from a single print to be able to trade with other to spread various prints around easier and quicker.

I have swabs and i like to use them.
I have swabs in sterile tubes, like your first picture but i can pull swabs out of tubes cap. They are handy and they werent expensive at all.
You can put them in sterile foil after you are done sampling with them, you can put that it ziplock bag (i would) but its not necessarry as long as you packed them ok. You can shorten them by breaking wooden piece. You can sterilize them. They are more useful than print if you only need small amount of spores.
Yes, you can make swab from print. Many swabs. Cool ye?
They are not meant for long term storage.
Its as easy to send them as prints.
This is all i think

Perfect, thanks.
So even if I am not able to get the ones with the tubes. I can just wrap it in sterile foil and then in a ziplock bag and post like that?
That is pretty awesome and a lot more convenient at times, a nice option to offer people when trading if they want a print you have just received - I am sure most would be willing to accept a swab, especially if they want to grow it out now and do agar work.
