The level of the vermiculite seal doesn't matter to much. Don't take the lids of or they will get contaminated. I don't pack the substrate at all, just level it off. Once mycelium grows it binds the cake together, so it doesn't need to be tightly packed.

dont open until birthing. if you used tape over the holes untape them and flip the jar upsidedown. (might be no help b/c i have no clue of the plastic tek)

I think your talking about the fast food of the gods method. Innoculation can be tricky using that tek. Try to keep the sites no more than 2" apart. Also try mixing it kinda dry and adding more innoculant. If colinization is too slow squirt some myc. water in through a hole in the lid. I've only had about 50% succes with this tek. The microwave screws up the water content. :biggrin:

no shit chlln it fuckin boils out the water or somethin. i dont recommend this tek to anyone, especially other beginners.
