got 3 pins on one bag. tough to see with phone camera, ill take a shot with the good camera tomoro. passed by them 3 times before i noticed them, thinking it was just straw that didn't get covered by the casing

Looks like a killer strain mate. Be careful with misting those little guys as some will abort if they get too sprayed.

haven't been misting the pins, but been misting the casing a bit here and there. the blocks we put in freezer for 24 hours aren't doing as well. only one has started moving up the casing layer. 20+ bags still colonizing with (sterilized) composted leaf matter, composted manure, some sawdust, bran, gypsum, straw. gonna case those soon. that will be last of nuda till next year unless we put blocks outside. blocks we shared with local farm took off running but no sign of fruits. i don't have pics because i don't have a car to get there. my buddy drove them over. ill try to get him to send me some.
anyone know if stamets is full of BS when he says he fruited them of plain sterilized sawdust+bran, uncased? he never put pics of it in TMC, and in the casing chapter he lists casings for nuda as "optional", and then in GGMM, he claims he fruited successfully off SSD. i mean the man can grow some mushrooms no doubt, but seems odd there are not pics of his success, especially w/o a casing. although, Bluemeanie's pics of nuda pins on a plate make me wonder if it is indeed possible??

^i reckon it's all strain related, I mean you can find pics of the French and Brits growing them in caves. They are about the most expensive cultivated mushrooms- about $25/lb on the price list last I checked. Terry M said his strain fruited off SSD and I tend to believe him. I have his strain and its deep lavender with age. My clone is not so much. Mycelia.be sells a L nuda if you want to go in on it or something. I don't think they sell anything bunk

yea, but terry cased with peat/soil water. so microbes were introduced to a certain extent. I'm not doubting it can be done on straight SSD, but without a casing, it seems unlikely. my ultimate goal was to clone wild fruit, save leaf matter that surrounded that particular patch, then use that as casing innoculant to introduce the microbes that particular set of genetics "needed". unfortunately, the leaf matter that was collected quickly molded in an anaerobic environment in the fridge because that bag it was in was sealed too tightly, and the location of the patch was lost, so more leaf matter couldn't be collected. i suppose any old leaf matter in that general area would have been fine?? but yea, I'm on board with the "strain related" thing. blue meanie's pics of nuda and SRA pinning on a plate blew my mind, and i have seen Lipa post pics of blazei pinning on a plate as well
gotta love the shroomery, all you guys are awesome!! you inspire me everyday

Wow well done. Superb mushrooms to eat. Your strain sounds excellent -:fast coloniser and proven pinner. If you have a spare plate give me a hoy

thanks brother! hopefully they mature... the one larger mutant looking one seems to be getting soggy along the stem. the rest still looking ok. temps steady at 50f day and night. humidity fluctuates btw 70-92% thru the day/night.

I read that somewhere yes.
I do know that in australia the ones under eucalypt smell and taste better than the ones under pine so maybe substrate is also a factor?
I love their colour. When i found them last year i held the gills up and realised the colour almost matched the overcast sky. Beautiful.

interesting note on pine/eucalyptis!
agreed on color! if i didn't know any better, i'd swear the stems glow in the dark.

update
10 bags total have fruits now.
i have a feeling they are contaminated with "mycogone", but never death with that before. either that, or they just grow strangely because they were over supplemented, or "in captivity" kinda like how a killer whale's fin will turn over? either way, glad it was not a total bust!
