Two haploid sex cells fuse what happens to nuclei

I've been at this all day and I feel like I've gotten contradicting answers. I believe when they become diploid the chromosomes pair up but the nuclei stay seperate which changes a monkaryotic to a dikaryotic pair. I feel dumb asking but am I right?

Two monokaryons containing haploid nuclei fuse to form a dikaryon and then when the two nuclei migrate up into a basidia they form a diploid cell which undergoes meiosis (when things get exchanged) and produces 4 haploid nuclei which transfer into the resulting spores that are formed.

I think it should be added here that it remains dikaryotic [i.e. (n+n) two nuclei per cell] and the migration into a basidia step to form a diploid cell (fusion of these two haploid nuclei) only occurs as the fruit body if forming.
Not sure if this is obvious to OP but I hope this helps reinforce the concepts.

So two monokaryons fuse to form a dikaryon and them the two nuclei migrate up into the te basida they form a diploid cell which only occurs as the fruit body is forming which then under gos mesiosis and produces 4 haploid nuclei which transfers into the resultig four basidiospores connected to the matured basida. Thanks for answering my questions guy I weren't over meiosis and have a much better understanding. I do how ever have one last question pertaining to the two graphs I am about to post. In the first graph a dikaryotic cell is shown at the start of meiosis which is 2n or two nuclei in the second graph of meiosis it only shows one nucleus am I missing something here or should there be two nuclei in the first stage of meiosis in the second graph.
