Reishi Tea recipe 1

Hi. I really enjoy my daily reishi tea. It has a great taste and I crave it! I have heard many people state it is quite gross and bitter, and this is true. But the way I make it, its just great.
I start with 20grams sliced, dryed reishi. I bring a 4qt pot to boil and toss them in. I turn it down a bit and put the lid on. After a few hours I take the lid off, turn on high and boil it down to make 4 cups. I pour it through a strainer into a QT jar, then once the mushrooms cool I give them a good squeeze. They hold a lot of liquid. I then chop up the soft mushrooms in a coffee grinder and put then in vodka with a tincture in mind (havnt tried it yet, its not quite ready)
I now have 4 days worth of reishi tea ready to go, at a 5 gram dose per day.
My coffee cup is 500ml, so this will factor into the taste of the tea. Add 1 cup of tea to the cup and heat it up in the microwave for a min. Boil the kettle. Now get a large lemon (or 2 smaller) and juice them. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of honey to the hot tea. Dissolve. Add you lemon juice, top up with water.
Thats it! The taste is unique and very good. Honey is a healthy natural sweetener, and by no means making this drink unhealthy. Lemon daily is support to be great for the system, including making your body more alkaline, but thats a whole different post.
Hope you enjoy.

Reishi, honey, and lemon, sounds kinda good actually... And super healthy!
Now just ditch that whole microwave step and use the stove instead

I've been meaning to ask your opinion on doing a reverse double extraction like I am doing here. It should not matter making tea first then doing the alcohol extraction second right?
I just love the tea and doing it in reverse lets me enjoy it first and still get the other medicine out afterwards.

Yeah lot of people like doing it that way, supposedly the heat from the boil will weaken the mushroom material so you get a better alcohol extraction.
I tried it that way a few weeks ago but I was so used to doing it the other way, when I was done boiling the mushrooms a few times I tossed 'em right in the trash instead of remembering to save them for the alcohol extraction
