I'm sure you know what you're doing too. It's abnormal for people not to shake their jars after PC'ing and/or inoculating, which is why I was confused. Call it what you want.

Any time I noc with massive amounts of lc ..no matter how much I shake, the lc always pools at the bottom and as its recovering it always gets a cloudy bacteria look...then explodes into a thick bright white myc that is hard as hell to shake....always a ring of it around the bottom of the jar. Just a sign of a really thick lc.

Yea me too,
The more I think about it though the more I don't like the idea of uncolonized grains.
What if that is the perfect environment for anearobic bacteria to recover, after the good myc has taken over the jar, and eventually ruin the grow?
What if that's the real reason MUDA bottles don't do well on 100% grain? Maybe the coir is preventing these pockets of uncolonized grains by keeping it airy.
I wonder if you wouldn't mind LOAF to let those jars colonize fully then do a pre-spawn shake to make sure they recover first to rule out a possible hidden bacteria problem.
Edit: a pre-spawn shake actually might not be that effective because of the relatively small amount of affected grains. I can't think of an easy way to test for this, any ideas?

In my eyes, you are only proving my point. Thank you for that. Have a great day, wow.

NEVER shake pre-spawn as a means to check for contamination. That is counter-productive on MANY different levels. More on that after production. Be good, you all.

That's been my experience as well with GLC and Agar LC's.

Im about to take that GWLC and inject another GWLC, 2 petri dishes for a test and 5 more qt WBS mater jars!! i made this new GWLC twice as strong as my last - also has pickling lime and gypsum in it from the soak/boil

liquid culture lunch pack from agar/6tango/mycota
cloudy soak water
strained for sediment
before and after coffee filter
after 1:4 dilution as mentioned in op. held up to light. then regular picture.
wiped the cobwebs off my stirplate! hello old friend.
and the culprits. 2003 stropharia, 2007 syzygy, 2007 burma, 2008 ape, 2009 treasure coast.

i have a pearl and blue oysters from a great vendor from 2007 stored in the fridge. that colonized plates in 3 days with a drop of solution that i would put to lc but one syringe can make an unlimited amount and i have about 6 plates of the oysters waiting for me to clear up some space for them to come to life. extremely vigorous growth stored in a liquid culture syringe for 8 years.

just did two inoculations from 3rd transferred plates of stropharia(2003) and treasure coast(2009).
you can see the jars on the back left behind the wbs jars in the SAB are the grain liquid culture jars.
these were done with wbs soak water. they probably look lighter due to the fact that i only do a 20 minute boiled water soak on my grain. i used the end of the water batch after that 20 minute boiled water soak.
close up. wbs soak water lc day 1.

can't wait to crank out the old stir plate!

When it was discovered that this thread had been bumped, the title read to me like there's a new culture of liquid enthusiasts coming forth with their discoveries of a new liquid media.
"The Rye Soak Water Liquid CULTURE!"
Eatyu, That is a BAD-ASS way to kick the cobwebs off the LC techniques, and tools.
