Lol -- yeah -- I don't know anything about the experiment. I don't doubt that it happened -- if I stuck a piece of bread outside right now it probably will take a while to contaminate (unless birds or squirrels or chipmunks, etc., eat it first which they likely will) because it's really cold! In the middle of summer when it's warm and humid it'll probably decompose really quickly. The experiment is pretty useless without information like this.

The outside isn't sterile. The only time I would say it might be "clean" outside is in the middle of a really bad winter -- it won't be sterile, but it won't worse than a filthy house. It's a lot better to just clean, though.

Just my take.

it is not air flow that stops the green mold, it is UV rays.

Maybe really direct sunlight, but I don't know. That would only be if it were growing in direct sunlight -- not just a piece of bread put anywhere outside. Trichoderma normally lives outside -- it lives off of phytopathogenic fungi (Trichoderma lives off of fungi that attack plants.) One certainly couldn't say that being outside will kill it, because it won't.

The original question is whether or not it's sterile outside. The answer is no.

It's not the UV rays, it's not the airflow, it's not any one thing. Thats what I was trying to get at in my post. It's all the things in nature that provide an environment where lots of things can live a little, but none can dominate.
Green mold lives outside in nature plenty. It's all over the place. It wasn't just born inside a house somewhere, it evolved in nature. It's just that outside, everything keeps a check on it to stop it from taking the world over, unlike the microcosm of a sterilized jar where it can dominate. Airflow, UV light, competing organisms, toxins produced by competing organisms, varrying moisture contents, varrying temperatures etc. I've seen green mold in nature in direct sunlight, but everything else must be favoring it.

The original question was if it would be beneficial to shoot your jars while standing outside. Like micro said, no because it's not sterile out there.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
