Found what I was looking for, and it's scary

Hey guys, So it's taken me a while to gather my thoughts about this but I'm curious as to what you guys think about this. For a few years, I've made a point to exploring consciousness and spirituality. Earlier this year, I decided to grow my first batch of psilocybin mushrooms in hopes of experiencing my first real psychedelic. Over the summer, I harvested and eventually had that first experience (1 gram) which was very interesting. Over the next couple of months, I had 7 different experiences with mushrooms, ranging from 1 to 2 grams. While not all of these experiences were the most pleasant, they were, for the most part, beneficial and eye-opening.
However, the 6th experience was, without a doubt, the most impacting experience. After ingesting 1 gram (I know it's a light dose) I decided to vaporize a bowl of cannabis about an hour after ingestion when I was starting to peak. This immediately kicked the trip into overdrive, far more intense than anything I had experienced before and I was not prepared for it. The fear was kicked off by the experience of immediate time dilation. 5 minutes literally felt like an hour and I became obsessed with the concept of eternity and death. For the next hour and a half, I was mostly in a state of terror, trying to calm down and let go with the flow of the experience, and failing miserably at this.
Since then, I still look forward to future encounters with the psychedelic states induced by psilocybin. I have nothing but respect for these plants and I want to continue my relationship with them. I want to expand myself and my spectrum of thinking. However, since the experiences of that night, there is a fear in the back of my mind about going back to that same headspace I experienced that night.
I guess my question to the psychedelic community is: is it normal to have this fear going into future trips? And do you veterans have any advice on letting go to the power of the experience, especially when the trip takes a "darker" turn?

I'm typically a little apprehensive going into a psychedelic experience, wouldn't really call it a great though.
When things get a little intense, I've found that stretching helps quite a bit. In fact, I tend to stretch a great deal during the come up. It helps to remove some of the stress.

We all have fears to deal with and most of them are unknown, so it comes as a shock most of the time atleast for me. I normally see all such experiences as challenges for myself to overcome and that helps a lot to deal with whatever comes at me. Its really tricky to try and calm down and let go when all you want to do is to survive the attack that is felt from the experience. Its your ego/physical personality trying to protect itself most of the time thinking its trapped or dying etc.
One thing that has helped me when I was in a period of alot of dark trips was to record my voice when I was speaking to myself on how to calm down in the event of a weird event and how to think etc. In one very very intense fearful trip I played that recording to myself and was really glad I had that information there at that point.
Most of my weird negative trips have been when ive been stressed or having a negative outlook on reality. Meditation has helped alot to keep my trips calm.

Couldn't read too much after the one gram dose thing.. If tiny doses are too strong for you, shrooms may not be for you. Apprehension can be normal, but if 1 gram is destroying you, yeah.. That's not normal.

Have you taken them without the cannabis? Herb causes anxiety in a lot of people. The fear happens, you cope with it by having a well structured setting that will support you no matter the mindset.

As I said in the original post, I have had 2 gram doses with no issues at all. I was just caught off guard by the intensity of that one experience with the shroom/cannabis mixture. If this had been a reoccurring incident, then I might consider dropping the idea of continuing my psychedelic journey. Thankfully, I can still look back on that one overpowering experience and still take away a heap of positives although it seemed negative at the time.

Yes, all times I have taken mushrooms (except for that one negative experience) have not been combinations with anything. Those were all incredibly productive experiences.

I personally despise the combination of weed with psychedelics...particularly shrooms. Nor am I alone in this. Try it again without the weed.

Absolutely. Not really, experience helps a lot though.
Advice: lose the weed and up the dose to where you're really cruising on mushroom power. It can't be beat.

Ive noticed, if you are having a difficult time go to a different room, or find something to do to take your mind away from it. Sometimes a change of place is all it takes.
Sometimes, comfortable food... for me a big slice of pizza is heaven on mushrooms.
Myself, personally I like to eat mushrooms in bed. I like to be able to get in the covers.
One other tip, that really works for me, is an electronic rain generator for background noise. Natural, soothing sounds like running water or waves.
