Psychedelic honey! * 2
    #20956634 - 12/10/14 09:36 AM (9 years, 5 months ago)

Trippy!  I had no idea that there was a natural kind of psychedelic, aphrodisiac honey!

Check out this documentary on this magic mystical honey

Also they have a mystical rapport with the bees that allows them to harvest it without protective equipment.

Its a honey made from certain psychoactive flowers that makes "mad honey" that is powerful enough to OD on if you are not careful. Anyone heard of this? I wonder if it can be purchased in the west.

This is SO cool!

Speaking of honey....It's a great way to preserve almost any herb, flower, or plant...Including mushrooms.

:tripping:

For a delicious treat I recommend blending dried hibiscus flowers with some local honey. Take a tiny spoonful anytime you're craving something sweet!

nom nom nom.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grayanotoxin

Apparently this is the active chemical contained in 'mad honey'

'Gross physical symptoms occur after a dose-dependent latent period of minutes to three hours or so. Initial symptoms are excessive salivation, perspiration, vomiting, dizziness, weakness and paresthesia in the extremities and around the mouth, low blood pressure and sinus bradycardia. In higher doses symptoms can include loss of coordination, severe and progressive muscular weakness, electrocardiographic changes of bundle branch block and/or ST-segment elevations as seen in ischemic myocardial threat,[8] bradycardia (and, paradoxically, ventricular tachycardia), and nodal rhythm or Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Despite the potential cardiac problems the condition is rarely fatal and generally lasts less than a day. Medical intervention is not often needed but sometimes atropine therapy, vasopressors and other agents are used to mitigate symptoms.'

It doesn't sound like something I'd like to try.

there are probably so many psychedelic compounds hidden in plants, animals, below the sea, etc that we haven't discovered yet. really makes you wonder.

hell, there could be a totally new class of drugs that nobody even knows about yet.

My wife went to Ecuador and she went on lots of nature hikes in the foot lands.

She told me about this years ago. She didnt get any but let me see if I can find the photo of the tree it comes from.

Ugh, you have got to be kidding me. I had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, but had the heart surgery to stop it last year. The attacks caused my it were so incredibly painful, I'm not sure why it didn't kill me. Then again, just days after the surgery, I did die, but I came back to life about 15 minutes later. The doctor did a bunch of tests, but couldn't find the reason for my temporary death. Strange, he is actually the top cardiologist in Colorado.

If mad honey causes anything like what WPWS causes, I want nothing to do with it. Suddenly, I want to go on a bee killing spree.

The bells on that tree remind me on a member of the nightshade family. I think its called Solanaceae.

'Some species of rhododendron are poisonous to grazing animals because of a toxin called grayanotoxin in their pollen and nectar. People have been known to become ill from eating honey made by bees feeding on rhododendron and azalea flowers. Xenophon described the odd behaviour of Greek soldiers after having consumed honey in a village surrounded by Rhododendron ponticum during the march of the Ten Thousand in 401 BC. Pompey's soldiers reportedly suffered lethal casualties following the consumption of honey made from Rhododendron deliberately left behind by Pontic forces in 67 BC during the Third Mithridatic War. Later, it was recognized that honey resulting from these plants has a slightly hallucinogenic and laxative effect.[68] The suspect rhododendrons are Rhododendron ponticum and Rhododendron luteum (formerly Azalea pontica), both found in northern Asia Minor.A brief documented video of this occurring in the modern day involves a group of men in Nepal foraging for this affected honey can be found here: http://eupterrafoundation.com/hallucinogenic-honey. Eleven similar cases have been documented in Istanbul, Turkey during the 1980s.[69]

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhododendron

That's pretty interesting, looks like nectar from rhododendrons is the culprit

Its funny how clear the tension is when that pinko ponytail character is about.  Probably not funny in reality as I imagine they rule that tiny defenseless buddhist community with an iron fist when foreign cameras aren't around.  Only politics could lead to that kid thinking he needs to teach those folks about communism  they are communism.
