TWO WEEKS. For two mofuckin weeks I have had NON_STOP HICCUPS. They stop, sometimes, as I'm sleeping, but start right back up again immediately upon waking. It's almost as if there is a pukey emulsion of stomach contents bubbling up in my esophagus that's causing this. High ph foods help somewhat, ice works temporarily, sometimes, but fuckin hay zeus christy pants, this is madness!

So far, antacids and high ph things don't really do too much. Doctor today told me it was because of inflammation affecting nerves, triggering hiccups. Never knew that could happen.

I can't believe nobody in this thread knows the simplest, most effective, and cheapest way to get rid of hiccups!
Jesus.
Hold your breath, and then sip water (while your breath is held) until you are forced to breath again.
Works like a charm.

It could get worse look at this guy

A Tennessee man is desperate to breathe a sigh of relief after his case of the hiccups has persisted for the past 27 years, he claims. And surprisingly, that’s not even a record. Bob Taylor said he’s tried every homemade cure to soothe his chronic condition, even meeting with doctors to discuss surgery. “They can operate, I really don’t care what I have to go through to stop (the hiccups),” he told NBC affiliate WCYB in Bristol, Va., last week. Among the remedies he’s already tried include standing on his head, drinking water and sugar water, and swallowing a spoonful of mustard. “I tried to eat it. Ew,” he told WCYB. He added that he went to a Veterans Affairs hospital and was told they could operate on a nerve in his stomach to stop the hiccups, which come from involuntary spasms in the diaphragm muscle. But his case, he was told, wasn’t “serious enough,” WCYB reported. “To me it’s serious,” he said. Still, his isn’t the most extreme example of someone with unhindered hiccupping. Charles Osborne, of Iowa, reportedly had the hiccups for 68 years from 1922 to 1990. He even landed in the Guinness World Records as having the “longest attack of hiccups.” Osborne’s condition arose after he tried to butcher a 350-pound hog and fell down, he once told People magazine. “I felt nothing, but the doctor said later that I busted a blood vessel the size of a pin in my brain,” he said. An area in his brain stem that suppresses the hiccup response was damaged, his doctor told the magazine. Early on, he hiccuped up to 40 times per minute. They inexplicably stopped a year before Osborne died at the age of 97, according to reports. In another bizarre case, Jennifer Mee, of St. Petersburg, Fla., gained nationwide notoriety as “Hiccup Girl” when an online video showing her marathon hiccups went viral in 2007. She hiccuped about 50 times per minute before her bout went away after five weeks. Mee, now 20, was in the headlines again in 2010, when she was charged with first-degree murder for her alleged role in the death of a 22-year-old man. A trial is expected to begin later this year. Mee’s mom previously called her hiccupping a “curse,” CBS reported. When hiccups last for a long time, doctors say, that could be a sign of a more serious illness, such as liver cancer or bowel disease. Taylor, the Tennessee man, said he’s tried medications prescribed by doctors, but that they made him sick. Among other hardships, his ailment can make sleep hard to find. “I lay in bed at least an hour or more before I doze off,” he told WCYB in between hiccups. “I wake up in the morning, still there.[/image]

Pro-longed hiccups are often a sign of diphragmatic cancer which disrupts the vagus nerve cause spasms. It will likely spread to your heart within another week.
RIP OP.

Haloperidol is what they gave my dad for hiccups that occur with end stage cancer. It is just about the only pharmaceutical treatment known to be effectice.
Quote:
Haloperidol /hæloʊpɛridɒl/ (INN, BAN, USAN, AAN; most common brand names: Haldol, Serenace) is an antipsychotic medication used in the treatment of schizophrenia, acute psychosis, mania, delirium, tics in Tourette syndrome, choreas, nausea and vomiting in palliative care, intractable hiccups, agitation and severe anxiety.[3][4][5] Haloperidol is a butyrophenone derivative and functions as an inverse agonist of dopamine. It is classified as a typical antipsychotic and has pharmacological effects similar to the phenothiazines.[4]

I only get the hiccups when I eat, and as soon as I'm done the hiccups stop. WTF man, it's taking away from my meal AND it's fucking annoying.
