CO2 and fanning with the pickle jar method
    #2095420 - 11/12/03 04:05 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I read that you don't need to fan with the pickle jar method cause the air stone supplies fresh air while the high humidity pushes out the CO2. Is this correct? Would a fan inside do anything?

I'm pretty sure it's when you put an airstone in a pickle jar full of water to supply humidity and air exchange to the terrarium.

I belive the pickel jar method is when you take a fish tank heater and put it in a pickel jar full of water while its inside a grow chamber...adds humidity.

momsn and MycoCat are both right, you take a large water container and put both an airstone and water heater in it. This way you get: airflow, humidity and heat.

So far the humidity stays around 98% and the temp ranges from 73-76 depending on if the light is on. So I'm just curious about the air flow aspect. Are there any good ways to measure the CO2?

the air pump is located outside of the chamber but the airstone that is attached is located in the pickle jar?

I'm really surprised that there isn't more feedback about the pickle jar method since it seems to require less complex equipment and interaction!

turn a the terrarium upside down, or vent it near the bottom, so co2 can escape and it should work .
it would take up a lot of valuable real estate though .
