You shouldn't let light hit the side of the casing (if in a clear container)
otherwise this is what happens.

take some masking tape or something, and put it around the sides of the container.

light should only be where you want shroms to grow.

as for the shrooms growing along the side of the tray, it is called overlay and stroma, you should read the mushroom cultivator

no, shrooms growing along side the tray is not called overlay and stroma. It may be a syptom of overlay but it is not overlay. Try reading and then understanding the tmc before making posts like that.
