Recipes are always great thanks. Will this Malt shown in picture above work for the Malt Extract Agar? I would think so, I just want to make sure before I open it.

Agar is pretty forgiving. I use PDA because I can get all the ingredients from my work. As long as your agar is sterile you will be able to grow mycelium on it

yes, it will work. I usually shoot for the lightest malt extract I can get.

For agar, what you want is a simple sugar, like maltose (malt), glucose (corn sugar) or fructose (corn syrup), in a small quantity--typically less than 2% but often as little as a single drop in 200mL. You also may want a starch as well, in a quantity between 0% and 8% by weight, although at higher concentrations starch will make your agar stiff. Potential starch sources are tapioca, potato, corn starch, ground whole grains and ground rice. Finally you want agar agar in a concentration between 1.5% and 3%, with 1.5% making a very soft agar and 3% making a very stiff agar.
Got it? More than no simple sugars but less than 2%. Less than 8% starch. More than 1.5% agar, less than 3% agar. Follow any recipe and rest assured that you are not fucking this up.
