Panaeolus Cinctulus Question (California)
    #20948350 - 12/08/14 04:55 PM (9 years, 5 months ago)

So I found Pan. Cinctulus in my area of California
(Yes the spore print is BLACK)

I also found Panaeolopsis...and two people told me that
Panaeolopsis are merely Panaeolus Cinctulus but Mutated.
Is that true?

Panaeolopsis are probably just Panaeolus, but not all of them are P. cinctulus.  I'm not sure how many if any at all are really P. cinctulus.  There are several related species in that genus that are hard to macroscopically distinguish.  P. cinctulus, P. fimicola, P. olivaceus, P. subfirmus (In dung habitats), probably some others.

Why hasn't someone sequenced these (panaelopsis, that is) to find out where they belong? seems like a fair amount of people find them on here.

Very nice!

I noticed the Cap color and texture of P. Cinctulus CAN seem a bit
different from Foenisecii

Plus sometimes Cinctulus specimens are BIGGER than Foenisecii
