Sticky Jar

I'm doing a bunch of G2Ging right now, and when I went to break up one of my master jars, it didn't break up like normally. All the others from its batch with similar field capacity broke up just fine, but this one didn't. Its breaking up, yet the broken up pieces are all caking together, no matter how many times I try to break them back up again.
There weren't any obvious contams in there, other than myc piss. The sniff test resulted in a very powerful smell of mushrooms, so much that it knocked my head back. No sour smell, or anything like that. It was just like a very very strong mushroom smell.
Should I trust the jar, or chuck it?

It was a 100% colonized jar you're trying to break up and it's not fully breaking apart? Try wearing an oven mitt or a bike tire if ones handy. You can get some extra force those ways. Maybe that jar was the first done and was consolidating while the others were finishing?
If you have enough spawn to do your g2g without it, probably err on the side of caution and toss it anyway but if it doesn't smell sour I'd use it

Though I have been on earth for ages I am from the stars. My home is no one planet, for many worlds scattered through the shining disc of the galaxy have conditions which allow my spores an opportunity for life... How the hypercommunication mode operates is a secret which will not be lightly given to man. But the means should be obvious: it is the occurrence of psilocybin and psilocin in the biosynthetic pathways of my living body that opens for me and my symbiots the vision screens to many worlds"

I have never seen metabolites in a healthy grain jar. hard time breaking up p.cubensis grain jars leads me to believe in contamination, you don't always necessarily smell contamination and often times it will still smell like mushrooms. post a picture

Yes, it was 100% colonized.
I used a bike tire in the attempt to break it up, just like the others from its batch.
Its the only one of its batch that isn't breaking up normally.
Should I made a mini-tub, and use it on that all by itself?

Is it possible to get a sterilize spoon and dig a little out for further examination?

Of course, but what do you propose I look for? Want me to post a pic of some that I dig out?

Here is a pic of some of the grains, taken out of the jar. There is obviously some bruising from shaking the hell out of it.

Any idea why its sticking so much inside the jar? Usually when I break them up, they flow like grains in a jar with no myc. This jar, they stick back together like they are covered in sticky tack or something. Its strange.

Sounds suspect for bacteria but can be hard to tell, sometimes impossible. I would spawn that one to a mini-mono and use one of your others for a master. No sense taking the risk if it is already questionable.

Yeah, I suppose. Well, on the bright side, I've got about 16 master jars left that I can use right now.
I'll make the mini-mono container today, pick up that hpoo tomorrow, pasteurize it, and get that grow going. As for the others, I'll keep knocking up jars for my big grow.
Thanks for putting your 2 cents in. Its probably not worth taking the risk of contaminating 10 new jars.

Thats not a bad idea. I'm going to be making a new batch of agar dishes tomorrow anyways for my new PE syringe, so I could always try that. Depends on what I get done first, I suppose.
