Seems like it would be a good way to make some extra money. Not sure if I'd pass the criminal background investigation though.

Man that Uber company has been under pressure in my region lately. Both Ottawa and Montreal are trying to regulate them. The taxi unions are freaking out. The cops keeps arresting the drivers because they dont have an official taxi license... I don't know WTF is so wrong with having a taxi company that offers quality service at a cheap price in clean cars driven by people who speak your language that knows the city...

I'm debating on investing in Uber. Efficiency makes money.

Is Uber the same deal as Red Cap where you pay for someone to drive you to and from certain places in your own car?

If you plan on investing in uber. Now is the time to buy a fuel tank and buy 20000$ worth of gas.

I'm not planning to work for them, I'm an asset manager. I invest other peoples money. Uber is thinking of coming to the stock market soon. They have been selling shares recently, raising billions of dollars. I hope they have an IPO soon

good for uber. Those taxi unions are a scourge and a blight on the free market.

The argument is that they are illegally operating taxis without a license, which takes money away from other cabbies who are already poor.

It costs $850K to buy a taxi medallion in NYC. That's down since Uber by about 17%

I knew those medallions cost some coin but seriously? What in the actual ****? I hope uber destroys that circle jerk of corruption. All you are doing is driving a car, nothing more.

Because it's fucking New York City. Welcome to nut-job city where a shitty 10x15 feet studio apartment in Midtown sells for $1 million, and any nice, 4-star restaurant costs $800 per person.
That's why I like to use the term, "Welcome to New York, fuckface."

It is a government created monopoly. What's the business model? Taxis are mints, licenses to print money, The drivers don't get it but the medallion owners do

The shitty studio costs a zillion dollars because rent control laws take a tremendous amount of inventory out of the market
