Aspen wood.
    #20932586 - 12/05/14 11:52 AM (9 years, 5 months ago)

I have card bored that is colonized with myc can i transfer some of that to the Aspen hardwood or should I just mix the aspen wood to the myc colonized cardboard? Will it eventually fruit if I add the Aspen hardwood to it and maybe some coffee ground. Ppl help me out with a card bored tek. I don't really have much to work with. I've got  of card bored, paper, coffee, Verm, aspen wood, wbc, a shoot gun bin, other bins an Tupperware dishes, one fully colonized BRF jar that hasn't even been birthed yet well that's pretty much what i have. Also once I dunk and roll this cake do you think i should add some coffee grounds to my verm role for extra nutrients I thought I read something about some one doing that.
Thanx y'all.

This.

If you are growing cubensis, then none of the wood products you listed above will help you.

If all you have is a single cake, then you should fruit it as a cake, take some spore prints and then go feom there.

The myc is growing very vigorously I looked today and the myc is at the top reaching out. Are you telling me it won't fruit or there's nothing I can put on top of it or anything its going to just keep growing myc?

it will fruit, but i don't think you will get much fruit off of just the cardboard, you will have to transfer the mycelia to something else.

what you transfer it to is up to you, but the psilocybe is not a wood-loving species. try dung, grass, grain, and of course coir will work

whichever way you slice it though, you will need a clean culture and clean technique to be able to successfully transfer them to a new medium.
you could also clean that culture by isolating out contams on agar, if its worth the trouble to you

you could try setting a small handful of properly hydrated grains on top of the growing myc??

edit: if your cardboard has been prepared & handled properly (i.e. if it is clean, free of bacteria or mold) you could drop it in a jar of hydrated and sterilized grain but you would probably want to do that under a flow hood or in a SAB

Cubensis are not a wood loving species. There's not much that they would eat in the cardboard and wood. While its possible that it MAY produce a small fruit or two in a desperate effort to survive, it is extremely unlikely that you will have a flush that represents anything worthy of the effort that you put in to it.

I spawned some Wollongong to cardboard awhile back, it did flush twice, poorly. I don't believe it fed on the cardboard however, but rather just grew off the grain. After the second flush the whole works turned green. I'll see if I can find a pic of that.

Edit: No luck finding the pic. If I come across it, I try to remember this post.
