Roof rats and the never ending quest to seal up every entryway

Many people here probably own a home and know that homeownership is a big responsibility. Sometimes can be a pain in the pocket book especially if the owner is a single person who can't fix anything on their own. Many of my friends just can't fix anything or don't even try. I'm sure you all have friends like this.
Last night around 11 pm there must have been a party on my nightstand because my phone was dancing on it. I was in the realm of sleep where you're just barely conscious and ambient noises are transferred into your dreams. Bzzzzzzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzzzzz---oh, WTF!!!!!!
Iphone with charge cord plugged in is now at the edge of the night stand about to go down. I speak in the air: "Hey, Siri...(dingle)....read messages". You have 8 text messages. She starts reading.
Rats! They got into the attic. They are too big for the glue traps. They got out of them. I can't sleep. They are making noises. You awake? Sorry if I'm bothering you. Do you have any poison?
At this point I wish she would have just called me. So I call. And don't even say hello. I just asked if she wanted me to come over. So I did. I get there and she is over apologetic. I walk in and trip trying not to step on her cat........ Cat?!? Really? I don't own cats but don't cats kill rats? Maybe not. Maybe not safe because of diseases- whatever it's now 12:05am. "Want some coffee?" She asks. Let's pause on that for a second. " " " Let's resume.
I go into the attic and shit me raw, there were black grains of rice all over the place. The LED flashlight on my phone lit up the whole attic. I can't see how they are getting in. I step on s rat trap that was set.
SNAP!
Let's just say that I used my old voice when I screamed. She came up into the attic and asked if I was ok. Looked at my Micheal Jackson style Kung fu house slipper and saw the trap, pac-manning the front of my foot. She got it off but not before letting it slip and closing on my foot again. I almost beat her ass.
I told her to go cook some bacon so we can load up some sponges with bacon grease and use on traps. She got to work. I got some trash bag twist ties and cut up a sponge she had. She munched on bacon as I tied the sponges now soaked in hog juice on the rat trap bait trigger and told her to set them up. We did (5).
Told her I would come back later when light to find where they are getting in.
Drove home. Left shoes outside. No rat poop in my house. Washed hands Went to bed 2:15am. Message. "I heard s snap" I texted back " I'm sleeping"
Now it's 503am and I can't sleep.
I think this time I'm going to extort weed out of her to fix this problem.
Owning a house is a pain in the ass

Yes. I've never heard of attic rats but learned it's pretty common in some older houses.

I fought that one for a while. Never really beat it till I did a renovation and rebuilt the back of the house. They had stashed pounds of walnut shells and other shit in the attic.

THE TRAPS WERE LOADED WITH RATS THIS MORNING. ONE TRAP HAD 2! I found where they were getting in. Chewed a corner or a roof pitch. Stuffed rolled stucco lathing in it.
She needs to get herself a man.

The only time my house has ever been rodent free (even with excessive trapping and cats) was when a weasel decided to shack up with me for a winter. Absolutely zero rodents. I kept putting food out for him to try and get him to stay around but as soon as spring came he was on his way.

I would post pics of the trapped rats, but out of respect for the animal lovers, it would not be a fancy idea unless you want me too,

Squirrels got in the shed and ate the gas cap and the starter cord for the lawn mower.

Tree rats are the worst.
They ate a hole in my siding and got into my attic
I saw some YouTube vids of home made catapults the launch the squirrels so far away. It was like squirrels in space.
