Moving onto poo

Heya guys, I am getting ready for one of my next grows, and I would like to incorporate horse poo into it. As mushies can be found growing on poo in nature, I was wondering if I could just use hpoo alone in my monotubs. I'm getting some jars of rye berries ready right now, and have just started knocking them up. I did 30 of them today, and will try to do the other 90 of them on Monday.
Could I just spawn rye berries > hpoo, and get great results, or do I have to add verm into the poo? What happens if I use verm, or no verm?

I'm a noob myself, but when I did a 70/30 hpoo verm mix azur let me know that it was too much hpoo. He recommended 50/50 verm, hpoo. I'm pretty sure a little bit of powdered gypsum is a must as well.

Yeah, I use gypsum like crazy :P
When I do need verm, I go to Lowes and find any bag that has a hole in it. They usually haven't spilled much. These ripped ones are 50% off ^_^

there are also other substrates to incorporate into the hpoo; straw, coir, gypsum (like he said), compost, tons more
i think a substrate with diverse and balanced ingredients is what you want

Well, are those other things actually needed when you are using poo? If so, why?

I don't think this is always the case Stargate... [Edit] I think it is more a matter of preference

Hmmm, interesting. I'm thinking, if I use my Rye spawn ($0.6443 x 6 jars = $3.8658) with hpoo (free), and maybe a casing of coir 200g ($0.6876)/verm ($0.4278). And the gypsum I like to add in is about $0.12 worth.
Than I could grow a good 8 oz for $5.10.
Think it would work well?

How much spawn do you use, what kind of spawn do you use, and what are your typical yields?
Most importantly, are they potent? My tolerance is skyrocketing, due to the experiment I'm trying.

If you want to skip out on the coir for the casing you are able to. 50/50 Peat moss and verm casing works well (apparently). People love putting spent coffee grounds in the casing too. I am only letting you know because I am pretty sure peat moss is cheaper than coir.

1:3 ratio spawn:hpoo. Genetics play a big part in yield and potency

Hmmm, I've got about 24.4 kg of coir left right now. Perhaps I'll use that for this grow, and use peat moss on my next grow. Good to know that its cheaper! Thanks As for coffee grounds, I avoid those, as the actual grounds end up contaminating too easy for my liking. On the other hand, I use spent coffee grounds to make coffee, and add that to my soaking buckets when hydrating my rye spawn. It makes them colonize faster, in my opinion.

I've got some great yielding genetics right now, which I will be using for this grow. As it was my first time actually taking shrooms, I asked someone who has done almost too many drugs daily for the past 40 years, to try them out. He said that they were amazing, so I'll trust his word on that.
Either way, I've got a new PE syringe on its way to me right now, which I plan to get a good 20 isolates from, using agar. When the PE are ready, I'll do a good sized PE grow. I've never used MS, and don't plan to :P
Thanks for the 1:3 ratio! I'll have to try that out. After all, I haven't used hpoo before. This is gonna be my first time with it I usually just do the coir/verm/gypsum, and I prefer Rye berries hydrated with diluted coffee. No grounds make it into my sub.

I usually do about a 50/50 as well.
And sometimes I do a H-poo / Straw substrate... I always throw in some gypsum as well.
I have used well aged, sheep-poo for the manure with good results also.
Oh yea, you may already know this... you want to pasteurize rather than sterilize. 140-160F for about 90min. Just thought I'd throw that out their in case you didn't already know.
Make sure your hpoo is well aged.

So, has anyone tried strait hpoo, and gotten good results? I'm trying to find the level of importance for the other things.

These got a bit ripe.

100% Hpoo.
Importance of other things? None. Fillers are easier to prep though imo.
2nd flush 100% Hpoo

Or maybe 3rd I cant Reemember

How did they not drop spores every where? Nice flush though, no doubt.

Damn! Those look nice man.
Alright, I'm definitely going to do hpoo. Can it more easily be prepped in a food processor, or maybe a blender? I mean, after the pasteurization process.
How many pounds of it should I need per 66 qt tub? I want to shoot for a 4 inch sub per tub. What size tubs did you use?
