Ok, to most of you this is probaly low tech and everyday knowledge. But, I just bought a 2003 Chevy Malibu with one of those keyless remote door locks/unlockers keychain things.I can't seem to get mine to work and I've got no owner's manual. The battery is good. I removed it and reset it according to the instructions printed inside the case (Press lock+unlock for 7 seconds near the car) It don't work! Maybe they gave me the wrong remote???? Any ideas?
To the best of my knowledge they just use a fairly simple RF signal, so the remote is either not sending the signal or not reciveing a signal back when you try to train (both buttons) it. There should be a way to either enable it or disable from in the car but your gonna have to have the manual or you could search the internet.
My question is why your even bothering askin here or even want to attempt to fix it yourself? A 2003 should be covered under warrenty till 2013, im sure the keyless remote is only three years but take the thing back to the dealer and tell them to do it right this time _and_ give you your owners manual.
