Have 2 Brand New AA x75 Steroclaves + 2 Free Table Stands On The Way.
    #20921027 - 12/03/14 01:58 AM (9 years, 3 months ago)

Was able to order 2 AA x75's yesterday and am pretty damn excited about the whole venture so much so that it's caused me to share with fellow mushroom cultivation gurus and enthusiasts alike.  Let alone folks who even know what the hell an AA x75 is for that matter.

I will probably snap a few shots of the devices when they arrive and make a thread about it, because I am a HUGE nerd like that. They are scheduled to arrive next week between Monday and Friday.  That is all.  Have a really GREAT day, and Happy Shrooming everyone!

you know I used mine a whole 9 -12 times.  Im continuing now with tissue culturing fruits and veggies, so its about to get some more action. I do need to get my support base though! Anyone know if you can have two going on at one time, safely, with such a large power load?

Hey man!  How have you been?  Good to see you posting.

Crap man, I'll have used mine 9-12 times in about 7-8 weeks.

Yes you can on a breaker that's large enough to handle the amp load.  Most residential breakers are about 15 amps.  The AA runs at 5 amps.

If your electrical breakers aren't large enough to handle two at a time, then you can plug each device into seperate breakers through out the home, and run them both at the same time.

Thanks, I should be fine then. I have the flowhood running, with two blowers, the 75x, and the ac/heater, depending on the time of year, without issue. Ive gotta get an idea on who does plant tissue culture work here. It would be great to exchange recipes. If anyone needs an orchid recipe, let me know.

Enjoy your 75x's hamloaf, its a great unit! Just use distilled water to extend its life.

Damn. Nice shit coming your way hloaf. Shweet
I have two 941's. Same size as yours, but i run gas obviously. How long does it take the 75x to get to temp?  Do you run it on a timer to shut off?

Its been 4years since I used it. It has a manual timer there to utilize, which helps. It took roughly 17 mins give or take to hit 15psi. Im going from memory. I turned the heat all the way up, and when it was about to hit 15, i turned the heat down a bit. You can keep it dialed in on the knob and not have to watch it all the time. if you hear a lot of steam coming out, you know the unit is going past 15psi, and you can turn the knob down again. After the 4th or 5th use, the adjustment changed to where it would need to be lowered with a turn of the knob a bit lower, as it would push past 15psi. I was told that was because the unit expands with more frequency of use, as it was a new unit. Hamloaf will see what I mean. How do you enjoy the gas unit?? I may have to pick one of those up, when I travel again, as I prefer doing my orchid tissue cultute in a more tropical climate and will be on the go.

Cool.  I have a 941 too that was GIFTED to me along with a 2x4 foot HEPA filter.

I am not sure how long they take to get up to temp yet, nor do I know exactly how I will be operating them, because I have not used them yet.  They are ordered and on the way.

I do know that my 941 reaches temp about 30-45 minutes faster than my AA x25 steroclaves when started at the same time.

My guess as to why the Steroclaves take longer to reach temp is due to the steroclaves requiring more water in them to operate.  More water takes longer to heat up.

Edit to add - These devices actually have their own timers built into them, so yea.  I will definitely be utilizing that.

I enjoy the 941's. Sounds the same as the 75x, just not quite as cool and not near as expensive.

The are the same as far as load capacity.  There is a 200 dollar price differentiation though.  Which you prefer to use is a matter of preference as is most everything else in this hobby

Electricity is a lot cheaper than gas to run though, also, I like the portability of my 2 25x steroclaves.  Either way, it doesn't take long for these units to pay for them selves.

Isn't there something about letting the pressure out of the 75x though?

Not that I am aware of.  I am not sure what you mean by that statement though.  What do you mean "something about letting the pressure out of the 75x though?"

I thought you had to release a vacuum or something. So it operates the same as mine, just uses electricity instead?  I may have to buy 2. I'm assuming with electricity, the immediate area around the cooker doesn't get as hot as a gas fired model?

Yea, these things pull into a vacuum.  It's because of the "stopcock".  Weighted pressure cookers won't pull into a vacuum.

The AA's are mutable though, meaning, you can convert the weighted pressure cookers into steroclaves by adding the stopcock and capillary tube.  My 941 has the stopcock conversion, but not the capillary tube.  It doesn't hold a vacuum, but I suspect the problem lies within the cleanliness of the stopcock it's self.

As soon as I turn off these devices, I soak a paper towel in rubbing alcohol, and wrap said paper towel around the stopcock while the vessel pulls into a vacuum to filter the air from contamination that's entering the vessel while it cools.  Works great!

To break the vacuum, you simply flip the stopcock switch.  I prefer to wipe my vessels down with an alcohol soaked paper towel, and break the vacuum in the sterile lab after the flowhood's been running for a few hours.

No problem, dude.  I am here to help.

These pricks still haven't mailed the units yet.  They got a hold of me the next day saying that my AA's were in the shipping dept ready to go, but they needed a home address, because the units were too big to ship to a PO.  Still haven't heard back.

The sterilizers shipped today via UPS.  Hell yea!

How many jars do you fit in your AA 941, Azur?

That's cool.  I was wondering that too.  7 half gallons is still only 14 quarts of grain though.  Don't you think you could lay a few jars on top of the 7?

I get 21 quart jars, or nine 3 and a half quart spawn bags into the 941 at a time.  Could more than likely fit nine 5 quart spawn bags.  That would optimize sterilization space.  Was considering making the switch to half gallon jars from quart jars, but I just don't see being able to sterilize as much grains at once using half gallon jars over quart jars or spawn bags.

Bags ftw if space is the concern. I could fit 2 or 3 quart jars sideways on top of the jars, but not half gallon jars.
