Florida pickings
    #2091889 - 11/11/03 12:01 PM (13 years, 25 days ago)

Here's a crappy pic from last night's expedition. (Gotts get a better cam) It was a team effort, with props going to orizon for being a wise hunting mate. On the top we have the non-active pans, on the bottom left the "iffy" ones, and on the bottom right the good stuff. :mushroom2: In the middle is the "battlefield of fallen shrooms" which was caused when we had to haul ass from some redneck farmer! A lot of blue rubbed off on other shrooms, making some of the IDing difficult. The bag took a bit of a beating, but we escaped with the prize, and our asses! All in all, a very good nite! Peace.

Are there no Ps. cubensis where you live right now or what?

Yeah, looks like again a mixed batch of inactive Panaeolus antillarums and other Panaeolus species.

I can't tell from the picture, but, I guess the size/shape of the bottom right ones look to be Copelandia cyanescens.

Be careful out there...try to ask for permission before hand.

Out of 2 hours spent hunting and like 100 shrooms we found only 2 Cubensis. I'll have to check other fields to see if the Cubes are absent all over, or just in that one field.

What do you think the bottom left ones are?

Permission would be.... well, it would be really nice. :nut:

this stikes me as very odd as well, that you guys aren't finding any cubes in your area, they should be abundant right now

Yea me and lightingfractal had quite an adventure last night. I think the farmer catching on had something to do with us being alot laid back then usually. We were talking and smokin and shined a little light we had a few times. Usually when one goes alone, he get's paranoid from the smallest sounds but having somebody as a partner is relaxing and even more fun cause I gave somebody to talk to besides myself. These shrooms were found in the same field as the night before and pics from that night are on the post named: "Nice harvest in Central FLorida! COpes-Cubes PIC." I only found about 6 Cubes that night as well. I dont know why, Ive never really found tons of Cubes in this field from the 20 times I've been it and if I do they are in little patches. But lightingfractal would agree that Lepiotas or that lawn shroom were everywhere. I am thinking if its possible that Lepiotas can dominate or drive out the mycelium from Cubes, inhibiting them from growing? Nevertheless, running from that farmer gave me a rush and it was an excellent night overall.
Peace, Orizon

And I never found that second Cubie, so out of two ended up one, and then the one ended up having little white worms. So total Cubes=0. :shake:

I wonder what those little white worms are, little bastards ended up in more than just that cubie too. I ended up having to shitcan like 5-6 shrooms because of they had worm infestations.
