landlord question
    #2091818 - 11/11/03 09:17 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

ok, my landlord is selling our house this winter but our lease isn't up until next july. him and the real estate agent need to come in the house to price it up. now, - 1. if i tell them i have personal private things in my room, can they come in? or - 2. if they do come in and see my setup(you can't actually see it, it's behind a tye-dye curtain) they can't call the cops can they?
after all there is no evidence that they are psychoactive, and if i say they are gourmet mushies(there are no fruits as of now on the cakes) there is nothing they can do right? i mean you can't bust a person for having a garden or house plants, so if i tell them that they are gourmet mushrooms, they really have no right to know anything else or call the cops. they are podunk hillbillies anyway and would believe me if i told them they were for edibility/medicinal. but plus i'd probably call my lawyer if they had anything to say. but, just for safety sake, what precautions should i take, if this has happened to anyone or if anyone knows of this situation? they'll be coming this week, like in a couple of days, so any help is welcome and appreciated by my fellow shroomerites..

Cover them up, put them away....  find out what time they're going through the house.

A curtain covering a room won't work.  They need to go through the entire house... closets, basement, etc...  You can't say "don't go in that room becuase..."  They will go in.  Don't leave them lying out in plain view either.  Out of sight, out of mind.

They're just apprasing the property.  It should only take about 30 minutes.  They have no right to go through your private things so...  get a foot locker or largest lockable chest...  Lock it, cover it with your tye dye sheet and put some plants or books on it while they're there.  Make it look like an end table

Your mushrooms will be fine while in cognitio

Yes they can come in but only after having given notice.

Yes they can call the cops.

Buy some large rubbermaid tubs. Put your crop in them with the lids on. Stack them in a corner. Place other stuff on top.

i planned on just taking down the rod which holds the curtain and draping the sheet over top of it. it is in the corner of the room. then placing some things on top of it to simulate shelving, but i actually might just disassemble it for a couple hours, it can only help right? can't hurt. thanks y'all

If I walked into a room where something other than the bed was covered by a sheet, I'd be wondering what it was covering.

Leave the tubs in the corner but stack a couple cardboard boxes on and around them so it looks as if you just stacked stuff in the corner.

The best place to hide stuff is generally in out in the open. By stacking things on top you reduce the risk of someone peaking inside. As a further idea, buy a bag of marbles (or nuts and bolts, put them in a smallish box on top of the pile. Leave the bottom flap loose so that is someone who isn't supposed to touch does so, the bottom opens and crash. Instant embarrassment, and you can come running.
