Never heard of anybody describing working in front of a flowhood to be a "pain in the ass" before.  That's a new one.  Have you ever used a flowhood?

Somebody made mention of not having figured out slants yet.  Slants are really easy and cheap.  Here is a comprehensive guide on how to do slants.

yeah, I'm using the glad ones. earlier, I made the mistake of not letting the agar cool enough and I picked it up to put the foil on and poured the agar down my shirt  :slowtard:

that's cus I didn't use a SAB or a flow hood  I poured them right on an epoxy table with all the air shut off. I leave a control dish it will be clean 2 weeks from now still.

fucking autoclave rocks and a hot water bath to keep the agar right at 47C so I can hold it without burning my hand and it solidifies in minutes after being poured.

I find mine are becoming increasingly easy to get off with each PC cycle except for the odd container per every 8 or so, that would rather bend in a way that severely weakens the lid and could open a small hole after repeated bends, than just fucking go down over the lip of the dish.

Those are also usually the ones that are hard to get off.  I could see just not bothering with those lids.  You have good results with it, then, you say?

f yeah I have. 0 contams on my spore plates. 50% contams on my store-bought oyster clone, without using iodine.

just tear the mushroom apart and take tissue from the inside, no iodine, bleach, peroxide etc.. needed to do basic tissue cultures. advance your technique instead of investing in a pair of chemical crutches.

That's hilarious though how there's nothing mushroom farmers that sell to markets can do about people taking their genetics.  That does kind of keep it akin to an open-source platform though, doesn't it?  Then again, senescence.

Senescence for sure. I'm growing king oyster from a clone I got from a grocery store fruit. I figures senescence would be an issue but my goal was just to get at least one mature fruit to get spores from. Well I was right. they are fruiting but kind of weakly and they are mutated as fuck.

Haha be careful saying that in the forums, some noob will go pouring a bunch of plates out in open air and then blame you.  Did you do this in the lab you have access to or at home?  Pouring plates in a SAB may be ok, but imo they suck for transfers just because of the lack of visibility, I fucking love my flowhood.  Even if I have to run it for an hour before hand.  I don't mind because I try to do spawning after petri work, so I figure the scrubbed air has to help keep contams at bay.  I live in an old ass house with a massive spore load.

I've done 100s of transfers in my SAB. but the plates I poured on the table was in a lab not my home.

So my agar looked good, maybe a little too solid, and there was definitely a little pool of water on top that covered roughly half the surface of the plate.

However, it's been over a week after inoculating with grains, and while the mycelium has reached for food and attached itself to the agar, I've seen no growth.

Idea's and recommendations?

(I can't get the pic right side up, I unchecked that orientation box but meh)

Haha, weird. I can't get shit to upload here via phone without wanting to kill myself. But snapping pics, uploading 8 at once to Dropbox or Gmail, then uploading to here is a snap. Different strokes.

Anyone think This leading edge is of P. Ostreatus, I found this when it was nice and big, but then a freeze hit, so I was not and still am not sure if that very leading edge is it(on the top section in that very short spot between the mold, and the edge of the plate, if you can see it) I do beleive it is, but wanted some opinions before I go fucking with it, in advance TY FOR ANY REPLIES!

Hard to say, I don't have a lot of experience with oysters but it does not look right. Take a transfer and see how that grows out.
