ID help (PNW)

Out walking the dogs on some wooded trails just north of Olympia, I come across these mushrooms quite often. I'm pretty sure they aren't active but just wanted to know what they are. If you look close enough in the first pic you can see one of the picked mushrooms growing on a "twirly bird".

Since I left them there I didn't get a spore print. I thought they weren't active so I didn't really pay much attention to them except to get a picture. Here is what I can remember:

Cap was rusty brown/orangish in the middle, getting lighter towards edge then became dark on the outer edge. You could see striations towards the outer edge. Cap was tacky to the touch.

Gills were cinnamon brown and attached.

Stem was white, small in diameter and straight. Maybe 3-4" in height.

They could be any of lots of different ones. A striate margin, slimy cap, and a rusty brown spore print would point toward Galerina. You need to use a microscope to identify Galerinas accurately to species.

For future reference, if you find some mushrooms you will want identified, you need to pick them. You'll need to make a spore print, and you need to have them available so you can answer questions about them. Try to collect specimens of all ages - with some genera we need to know things about young or old (or both) specimens.

Happy mushrooming!
