OMFG what a waste. You should've spawned all that agar outside or something.

Why do we not have a SINGLE kiddie pool grow log that is complete? Every one of them some shit happened to prevent fruition.

If they make clear ones you can just use two to make an indoor dub-tub type thing.

The occasional contam is what prompted me to ask about putting them down the sink and why I generally empty plates outdoors. Otherwise I'd just sit the trash can beside the sink and dump them as I'm washing. I guess I should stop being lazy and separate the few that need special attention from the ones I can freely toss without worrying.
Spawning them outside is a great idea, that hadn't even crossed my mind. I'm about to go Johnny Appleseed on my yard with a bunch of fully colonized oyster plates!

If I can make room for it some were I'll make a kiddy pool when I finish up my current grow. I just dump my plates in the garbage. If they are contaminated I open them under hot soapy water in my sink.

So I'm gonna do my first agar run-through with APE here in a second and I whipped up way more agar then I needed.
If I was to take a single grain from a jar I believe has bacteria in it, would this grain definitely show the bacteria or could I miss the contam?

the mycelium might grow over the bacteria anyway if it's a grain from a jar the mycelium is pretty vigorous in the colonizing stage. it really depends.

Say the pool holds 20 gallons. That's 80 quarts. So using 20 quart of spawn, 6 bricks coir and 12 quarts verm, you have 80 quarts with a 1:3 ratio. Is that right? Depends on the size of the pool I guess.

Yea I guess it would depend on if it's the $10 4' diameter or the $15 5' diameter pool haha. Might be kind of hard to find one of those this time of year. We've got one of those big ass inflatable rectangle ones we bought and never took out of the box. Inflated the outer dimensions is 103" x 69" x 22" and it holds 198 gallons. The spawn wouldn't be a problem, but that would be a shit ton of coir and boiling water for pasteurization. If people don't use the bigger 105qts for mono tubs because of the surface area to depth and anaerobic conditions in the center, I wonder how thing you'd have to make the sub to prevent that from happening. Sorry to derail the thread Pasty, but all summer long I walked by those damn pools and thought how awesome it would be haha.
