When to abort an abort....
    #2088885 - 11/10/03 10:43 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I have a few cakes going where there are some really nice mushrooms growing next to a few aborts. The aborts heads have already turned kinda a gray/black, and I would like to know...

Would it be ok to leave the aborts on the cake till the bigger shrooms open thier veils within the next couple days? Or would the aborts cause contam trouble before then?

The reason why I ask is, one of the aborts is growing right in the middle of a cluster of my best looking shrooms, and I don't want to screw them up. Any thoughts?

It should be fine. They're not that much of a threat -- just pick them when you pick the rest.

Usually the mycelium just eats them back, anyway.

GangaG - tweezers kick ass for pulling abhorts from hard to reach spots.
Good luck.
