Bags getting f*cking soaked....
    #2088734 - 11/10/03 09:26 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

This is really pissing me off -- I'm putting like 2 qts of water in a 36 quart pressure cooker and the damn water is still getting through the filter patches. The bags are pre-sealed (and take up most of the space in the cooker -- 3 lbs of dry rice per run) -- can I put mason jars under the bottom tray to lift them up, or could this blow up the pressure cooker?

I'm going to start wrapping them in foil -- any other suggestions?

Thanks!

two quarts in a 36 qt pc doesnt seem like much water. Is it actual water that is getting in the bags or it is steam that is getting in through the patch?

could you try putting less water in? if so try with just a quart of water.

Yeah -- doesn't seem like much, at all. I was worried 1 qt. might just evaporate and melt the bags -- I guess I'll try and just watch it carefully to make sure the steam doesn't run out.

It's the actual water going through the filter patch -- one was smooshed to fit in, so the filter patch was higher up and that one was fine. It's just strange because this is a new problem, and I'm using the same shit, except now I'm sealing the bags first -- only thing that's changed....

Thanks!
