Furthest I got on this was Fomotopsis pinicola or Heterobasidion annosum . Found on spruce stump on the mountainside in the bottom of a small valley. It has shrunk since I collected it, starting to smell sweet, really yum smell. Wondering if it has any medicinal value

Looks like Fomitopsis pinicola due to the hoof shape and coloration. I do often see Heterobasidion that resembles that in far northern California, however it is much darker in color.

Hey wait. I'm in Alaska. No where cool, just anchorage, but I went to chena hot springs and we stopped on the way back somewhere n we found football sized amanitas at my friends grammas house. They say that place is haunted but there were several hundred mushroom varieties in that yard so many that I got spooked for real. Wud love for anyone else in AK to message me!

closeout special:

farewell you alaska, you big land. i will dearly miss the freedom of living well in your land, the silence and the undisturbed music in your winds, your bitterly cold reminders of my own mortality and will to survive, i survived you, frozen bitch. i'll be back in this life to survive to my end
