question about amanitas
    #2087827 - 11/10/03 12:41 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

In the future, I'm going to cultivate amanita muscaria for aesthetic purposes (hey, they look cool, what can I say?). How would I go about doing this in a pot? I can easily get a fresh specimen for spores. What kind of substrate would I need?

Happy Trails!

Good luck! Not probable though, At least not without a lot of work, probably some money for reasearch, a lab, etc. and I think you would be a first. The have a very complicated rhizo (forget the word) relationship that only works with certain trees and as far as I know has never been accomplished indoors.

Everything written above this line is completely false. I am terribly bored and write here to pass time. I do not participate or support any illegal activity.

The closest thing that you could o is to try to get them to grow around trees close to your home, if you have the right trees. Other than that you would need to grow them in a very large pot with the host tree.
