Help, beginner!
    #2086764 - 11/09/03 05:14 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Alright, I've read a few grow guides, and I think I'm ready to get started. First of all, I have to order the spores. I've desided to order from Ralphster's, for those of you who have ordered from him before, what type of packaging does he use, is it descreate? I couldn't find anything about it on his site. Next, what would be a good strain for a beginner. I want something thats easy to grow and gives ya a pretty nice trip. Finally, would head shops carry these siringes, or do I have to order them off the net?

Thanks for your help, john.

You could have sent Ralph a quick email, and he would've told you that his packaging is discreet (says in the banner). The only thing on the package is the return address. I don't have much experience myself, so I can't tell you a good strain for a beginner. However a simple search would give you at least 5 other posts about good beginner strains. From what I've read, most Ps. Cubensis strains are quite similar - You will hear different personal favourites, however some common answers are Creeper and Equador. Most vendors (Ralph included) give you the option to have the spores on a print or already in a syringe.

I don't think Head Shops carry syringes.

Hey thanks for the responses. I've got some more questions though. First, where can I find more information on how to use a large pot w/lid instead of a pressure cooker. Most of the stuff I've read focuses on pressure cookers, and I don't have the money to spend on one, well at least on my first attempt. Next, can I get Vermiculite and Pearlite at Home Depot or Lowes? If so what are the prices like? Lastly, I have a question on incubation. Does the white fungis(cant remember the name) appear during or after incubation. If it appears after, how do you know when incubation has ended?

-John

Ok so, with a pot, take your made jars and put them in the pot ontop of a couple of paper towels, about 5 folder back and fourth and poke a hole in the center, so the boiling bubbles can get through, put the jars ontop and then fill with water about 1/4 high on the jars, maybe a 1/3 will be ok too. Then bring to a boil and then turn down the temp so the water isn't boilign wildly but just creating a steam. Leave alone for 1 hour to 45 minutes and then your ready. Let cool and then innoculate. Vermiculite should be attainable at any nursery near your area. It cost under 4 U.S. dollars for a large sized bag. Avoid the large stores, Wallmart etc. I never get what I went there for. Get used to local nurseries, they are everywhere. Besides Wallmart has bad Healthcare for employies and is against employee unions. Support the "little man" and go to a local nursery. I'm not familiar with your white fungus problem, Is that an STD or Cubie related? L8rs.

READ the PF tek for simpleminds...read it often, then read it some more, then atleast you will have a basic understanding of that "white fungis"which most of us call mycelium.

"Is that what you do? Read an obscure passage and pass it off as your own? When you get older your going to realize two things in life, ONE DON'T DO THAT, and two, you wasted 150 grand on an education you could have received for 1.50 in late charges at your public library." I don't care what you call it. I say mycelium when I mean mycelium. Read a faq which calls it white fungus, great, it's white fungus. I'm not what I last read.

if you DID read the faq's at all, you would at least know the "tek for simple minds"is a tek not a direct insult!

Hanky, just to let you know that quote was from "Good Will Hunting"...so he wasn't directly attacking you.

Lamblancer, you pervert. That cat participated in all activities in that photograph willingly.
