The heat of summer ruined the covering on my greenhouse. And our garage is packed full of crap. There's a few places in there but i'd need to install lighting, which i'm just not in the mood for at this point. I need to get out more and get my social life back. I love caring for my plants but I seem to become imprisoned with an endless to-do list that never gets done. And now all this winter business,

Santa hats are a cool idea (I menaged to do it myself, .png are easy to use) I'm not religious, but of course i like Cristmas The thing is that this year i want to give cactus as presents to all my friends i can find pretty ones for cheap, but i'm aiming more for some easy care ones than some beautiful but difficult ones. I'll add instructions! I'm also tryng to spread the cactus intrest; my friends know that i'm into cacti also because mescaline stuff, so they are starting to get intrested too

Not much going on here. Brought my Lemon Verbena inside, it dropped all its leaves and started growing again. The orchids are starting to flower. God damn fungus gnats are driving me mad, i will fucking nuke everything with vine weevil control stuff soon .

I hear that stress. I've got everything moved into my greenhouse, but just heard from the landlord that they are selling the house and want us out at the end of February. The though of moving all my plants in the middle of winter sickens me. Especially since Jan/Feb is the coldest part of the year and March is when we get the most snow. All of that on top of the joy of finding a new place.

Man.. Not to come into this thread bitching.. But the dang door blew open on my cheap GH and my trichos seem to have frozen nearest the door. I brought them into an unheated room in the house. Will figure out whats mush and what survived. Guess I'll put this as one more stress test to weed out the weak.
I should have ran power out to it and had a light or small heater going through the night. Next season I would like a larger heavier green house.

Stuff like that just sucks and can be demoralising, but like you said it's a test to weed out the weak. Looking for positives in situations like that can sometimes be fruitful and work in your favour.
I've been having issues with Weevils eating away at years worth of work. Coming up with a solution that didn't involve toxic or systemic insecticides has been challenging. The tide of war is turning my way it seems.
That is nothing though, just happy to be alive today. Was minding my business at a Red traffic light yesterday when an idiot plowed into me from behind at about 80km without braking. I'm very sore but otherwise ok. Will be slow in replying to anybody for a bit. You guys nearly had to find another moderator.

Thanks mate. The ol' neck is bit sore, among other parts. I only think I survived because I spent most of my youth in mosh pits or circle pits. I was spacing out enjoying the new Pink Floyd album, my car had an epic sound system that I'd built, and then crash!!@%$*!*!!
It was a case of pure negligence and she was lucky no one was killed and that she was a she. I don't take kindly to people attempting to kill me.

Well, while moving my pedros inside, 3 columns 1.5-2ft each bent over and broke offat a skinny point from etoliation from last year.... so that sucks and all... Should I callous and reroot or put them to other purposes? Is it even possible to root cuttings going into winter like this?

I have some tips to root too, so now they are calloused I will leave them standing upright in clay pots and wait for Spring to roll around before expecting too much from them.

*2nd Edit....
Thanks KBG. See my reply to Lemnarminor about my opinion of the album.
Cheers Mostly. Living to tell tales is way better than dying that's for sure. I'm not surprised because the drivers in this city are the most useless of all and stuff like this happens often. Just 5 minutes before that I seen another nose-to-tail and couldn't wait to get off the road. It happened only 3 blocks from my destination too.
@cowsRmeat: You can try and root them, no promises they will until favourable conditions return though. If they're dormant already then you should probably store them(like Mostly_Harmless suggests) or whatever. You could even graft something to the top 6+ inches, cut the base section off and ??? the rest.

Thanks Lemnaminor. I think the new album is quite good and anyone that enjoys the older stuff like AHM should like this. It's familiar like Déjà vu but also its own thing, in classic Floyd style.

Quick recovery to ya! Yeah man people on the roads these days worry me. People are either in such a rush or oblivious to whats going on around them. Someone a recently ran off the road. Drove threw the fence and hit the corner of my mothers house and one of her cars in the driveway. If it wasn't for buckets of rock by the front door the car probably would have gone into the house more and hit my mother sitting in the room. She was only a few feet from where the car hit the corner.
Some of my trichs are weeping and deflating. Thinking the damage may be worse then I had thought. Still believe there will be survivors. But I don't know. I still have a bunch of their seeds from 07. Might not be the best germination rate but I should be able to get a few of each cross back. Your right about it being demoralizing and what not. But I have had worse failures in the past and reacted worse in the past.
My great grandfather raised Orchids and Lilly's. He was a purists and didn't believe in the hybridization of orchids. Yet the market and trends was doing the exact opposite. In an eccentric rage he piled up all his culture equipment and plants and burnt them.. I wish the family still had the greenhouses. This was all way before I was born more like when my mother was a child. Maybe great grandpa is pissed at me for growing hybrids? :p

I got rid of my fungo gnats by letting a fan blow on my plants all night, until all the soil in my pts was bone dry,and as a matter of fact,I do it every night so they don't return!
