good beginner spores?
    #2083966 - 11/08/03 12:53 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

What kind of spores would you recommend for a first-time grower? I'm going to be ordering from Sporeworks or Ralphster's. Any input is appreciated.

I would say anything P-Cubensis go with EQ's and after you do good with them creeper, and Golden Teacher............(by the way just about any strain listed will be P-Cubensis especially for a beginner:)

Well I'm definitely going P. Cubensis. That's a given. My friend, who I'm starting the Northeast Portland Fungi Cultivators Co-op with, is getting Golden Teacher.

I'm on my first grow and I'm doing Amazonian. I remember reading in MMGG that it was the best strain for the beginner. Are there any problems with this strain that anyone knows of (lack of potency, size)?

I really stress my opinion that every noob should try cambodian for the first time. It was that strain that really turned me on due to it's ease, speed of colonization, and mad fruiting (harvested 1.5 oz dry on the first FLUSH of my first casing ever using 3 quarts of colonized WBS). I think if it had not been such a positive experiance for me, I would have quit.

But are there any known problems with Amazonian, or are they just average?

Hehe, thanks.

I was getting worried because no one was answering me. Thought everyone was being quiet because I had fucked up or something.

I wouldn't identify yourself if you are ordering active growing spores, especially if you ask cultivation questions in the future. Besides that, I would go Koh Sumai or Creeper/Cambodian. Both are fast and easy fruiters (well all Cubs basically are)
Good luck

Cambodians are the fiercest, most robust, smoothest of them all. They are the hardest to fuck up, imo, and the best for someone who doesnt want to ruin their crop because of inexperience/ lack of knowledge.
