Anything Good???....
    #2084512 - 11/08/03 06:11 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Today I went out and found these beauties. I am pretty sure the big one isn't active, but the small one might be. I really don't know. Anyone id them possibly?

This one is huge. It has an extremely soft cap, fuzzy like.

I am taking prints on both of them right now. The smaller one has gills also, they are a dark black/dark dark purple color.

We really need to know spore print colors and habitat just to start. You should also write up a description, especially for the 2nd one, where we can't see the gills or stem.

The first one looks like a Lepiota, but we need a spore print and description to do more than that. Don't forget to slice it in half vertically and watch for color changes.

Happy mushrooming!

Ok sorry bout the bad description, I was in a rush. Anyways the first I know is not active, but the smaller second one might be a weilli? Maby not, but anyways it was found on a golf course in N. Georgia. The print came out black or very dark purple. The stem was small because when I tried to pick it it snapped off close to the stem. So I guess you could say the stem was brittle, but might have been because it was drying out. Although there wasn't any scaling on the cap at all. It was one of 2 that were found. Anyways here is a pic of the underside.

Not weilii. But on the subject, they are still up and fruiting, over one hundred were picked over the weekend by hawk and myself.
