squishy the pin!!!
    #2083692 - 11/08/03 12:54 PM (13 years, 28 days ago)

jars were inoculated on 10/1/03 with B+ syringe, birthed 3 jars on halloween (10/31/03) and 7 more a few days later.  i got a few pins coming, and damn it feels good.

i call the big one squishy.

if you notice, one of my cakes is growing onto the perlite, is this a problem??  im having dreams of it taking over the entire container and then turning into the blob and eating small children, and sprouting mushrooms the size of houses...but then again i have been using alot of tryptamines lately :crazy2:

christmas lights rule for lighting...most efficient lighting ever created by man. set them up on a timer and youve got a killer lighting setup for 10$.  i think next time i grow i will experiment with using the flasher bulb in the light setup (itd still be 12 hours a day, if it flashes on and off the whole time)  see how bad i can fuck w/ the mushies heads. hehe.

yay for pins

Send the blob this way Jslice. hehe
Do you mist or is the perlite good enough? Also do the christmas lights put out much heat? What temperature is the terrarium when they are on, versus when they are off?

good job
student

perlite is more than enough my friend.  my rh meter comes up "error" for %rh, so that means its around 100%.  lights give off little bit of heat, but not enough to change the temp of the box.  during the day, im runnin at around 76 -78 degrees, night time its around 74-76.

as for the blob, i dont think i have the power to control it...ill just send you some prints off that cake when its done .  everyone could use some super myc.

best pinset from a cake....ever

just thought id update you guys on this.  i am very happy with the look of things.  all of the 10 cakes are now pinning, and ive got about 50 pins on that one cake.

let me know what you guys think.

oh yeh, ive got one abhort so far, right next to that fairly large shroom, the head of it just turned black...my question is should i rip it out, or let it go, i dont want to upset the larger shroom.  also, why did my mushroom take a u turn and not grow towards the christmas lights i have ontop of the rubbermaid??  i am confused.

Damn. I counted over 60 pins on that cake. That is absolutely amazing. And squishy looks great too. How long has it been since you birthed those. Are they from the first three or the other seven?
Keep up the good work,
student

the good lookin ones are from the first three i birthed on halloween.  looks like picking an auspicious day (sp?) helped out a bunch

by the way happy 100th post student.  my 100th was the pictures above

back to my question!  why does that big shroom do a U turn and not grow towards the light!! someone smarter than me...please enlighten my simple mind.

final count of the pins on the super pinset cake is 93. none of them are showing any signs of abhorting.

i noticed on the bigger mushroom that is growing, the veil is already tearing away even though the cap is not developed. should i let it grow out more? i dont want to miss out on making a spore print for my friend from it, but i dont want to harvest it before the cap even looks like a cap. help!

Wow! Great pinset! Be careful of direct touching of cakes and perlite, I bet if you looked, you have more pins growing into the perlite and getting waterlogged .

Also, I don't see a pellicle, are you sure they are B+?

i ordered b+ from micron magick, and the syringe was labeled b+...but yeh your right now that i look at them they dont have a pellicle. now im totally confused.

whats wrong with growing right on the perlite? i thought it helped keep the moisture content of the cakes up. how should i change this if that idea is wrong.

hmm...i just looked through a bunch of photos of B+ and none of them look like they have a pellicle, but this page:

http://www.sporeworks.com/bplus.html

says that they do. haha i will believe the shroomerites over the vendors any day of the week though.

Angry, just my experience, that when I put them directly on the perlite, I had many shrooms growing out of the bottom. It gets them waterlogged, and they invite rot, and contamination. But, it's just a personal preference.
