Could be, I'll check some of the ones still in foil and see...

That's bacteria. You'll probably even smell it when you clean out the dishes.

Is it like this?

Hey, cooldave here. Got here from that LC thread we were talking on. How do you innoc the agar? Do you do it just like a grain jar and remove the micro tape then squirt spore solution/lc or whatever in, then wait for it to colonize in the dark? 80 degrees? I know nothing about this haha, I wouldn't even know how to go about making LC out of it once it's done. Maybe you have some links you could throw my way? It'd be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to try this. One more thing, where in the world do you actually get the agar??

And honestly if there's a way to start this with spore prints that would be ideal...only reason i'm asking for your opinion/info on all of this is because I want to make sure I've got everything perfectly right to be successful with this specific tek. Like I said I have no experience with agar, and all of the teks i've seen so far look so much different, and i still don't have a clue what to do as far as inoculation and making lc out of it. I mean, I have a clue I just want to make sure I have the right idea. Thanks again.

Perfect. I would've clicked on one of those links way sooner if I would've known what they were. I just kept thinking "wtf are these tiger things" lol. Any advice on how to make lc out of the colonized agar? Or a link to a tek? Thanks!!

When you have a clean culture you put your plate and LC in a SAB. Flame your scalpel (outside the box) then use the flame sterilized blade to cut a small chunk from the growing culture. Then smoothly crack the lid of your LC and drop that little colonized wedge in. It will start growing quite quickly and usually a week later your ready to test.
Do lots of reading to get a feel for good procedure. It takes practice but is a great skill to have

I can't fight it any longer. Something to be said about living in a part of the world with a large Asian population, as I was able to find it at a local Asian market for $2 for a 6oz package (suck it Amazon!)
